No extra work to plug it into the site. I'll probably use ChatRoll if the Board wants chat. Boret does make very valid points - we lose out on an archived knowledgebase in the forum/topic format and what about moderation. On the other hand, many forums have a chatroom to add to the community features.

Have you found a good place to obtain the bulbs for that unit? They seem to be OOS everywhere I look. I'd like to purchase the unit, but can't justify it if I can't find replacement bulbs down the road.

Agreed. Just don't see much in regards to reviews for them. I did e-mail them, and got a quick reply. But I'm still hesitant.

Need to get a new light bulb for my Biocube. I ran across bestpetlighting.com, and it seems to have the best price that I can find. Any one purchase from them? How was the experience? I'd prefer to get the light locally, but haven't had much luck finding it.

My recommendation is to rely on the WAMAS Gallery. Create a new category called POTM. Set it's default view to show the latest 60 or 90 days. Post a topic each month. Let people upload their photos. Other members rate the images on the Gallery. The highest rated photos win. At the end of the month, you can hide the remaining photos, or just leave them there and expect people to only rate on those photos posted in the contest month - when viewing the thumbnails, they will show when they were uploaded. Another option is to create the POTM category, and create albums for each month's contest. That would make managing the photos a bit easier.

As most of you are aware, the WAMAS site was down for maintenance for a bit this afternoon. The site is being moved to a new server. Part of that move requires that the domain be directed to the new server. Unfortunately, this can take anywhere from 5 minutes to a week. I won't explain why since the reasons are explained all over the internet, but here is a crash course. As you click around the WAMAS site, you'll see that the location/URL changes from wamas.org to a string of numbers (or the site's IP address). I have the site set to use the IP address of the new server for now. Unfortunately, for those who do not have WAMAS remember your password, you may end up having to log on multiple times - one for the domain (wamas.org) and one for the IP. I know it is a pain, but I want to ensure everyone is able to get to the site while we wait for the DNS change to propagate to all. Especially for those who pay dues. I will change the site to start using the domain later on tonight, unless I hear guidance from the officers telling me otherwise. Thanks for being patient during the move.

Love to see more pictures. Looks like you lose a bit of light due to some of the spread hitting the hood instead of being flush with the hood and shining all into the water. But looks good.

Were there any stipulations in the contract regarding a return and refund based on the product not meeting your expectations? Unless your contract says that the stand had to be level, sanded, and painted, and the tank had to be free of rough corners, you may have a tough time selling your complaint to the CC/PayPal/courts. I'd hope it was noted that the tank would be free of leaks though. So that could be your savior. If he just came out and slapped a patch on it, it no longer meets your original design and requirements. Of course, I'm not a lawyer either. Just my 2 cents is all.

although you're posting in a private section of the site, I agree! Also, I think you are better off settling this in person. Go in and tell them you'd like your pre-order money back since you didn't get the product they promised. If they refuse, call your local authorities to meet you there.
