  1. thanks for the putting the price tag into perspective everyone.
  2. ??? any idea how/ why these bulbs are only $15 compared to the "same" bulb that goes for up to $130??? Is anyone using these right now for sps tank?
  3. mine have always managed to find each other within a week or so and never heard of them not getting along??? once they pair up they will stay in the same general area and rarely leave very far even during feeding...
  4. GS2 is a great skimmer, i love mine. I have also been very pleased with euro-reefs and you can prob find a very nice one without much trouble.
  5. BAD lionfish, that's a BAD lionfish, haha....
  6. those are some massive corals for a frag tank, sweet tanks. do you always have your MHs that high from the water or just to take pictures?>
  7. wow i heard about a greenhouse project but didn't realize it was a full on coral/fish farm, awsome work. justin, do you want a convict tang to help with algae? my pbt is pestering him like crazy, LMK.
  8. congradulations to the new board members and thanks for the continued efforts for the re-elects.
  9. also, any idea how/ why these bulbs are only $15 compared to the "same" bulb that goes for up to $130??? any idea how long they will hold thier PAR for or how reliable they are? I just had an xm 10k bulb burn out/stopped working after only 5 months use!!! Never even heard of this happening before?
  10. when the bulbs were bran new, i had the bulbs at 20". I think I have them down to about 17" now. Thanks for the site and you effort.
  11. that acan pic is sick, how did no one comment on this.......
  12. I was thinking of running 4x39 Watt T5's on Ice cap 660's along the front and the back of the tank with the MH in between. The MH bulbs I will probably be using and Phenix 14's on Magnetic ballasts. The tank is 72x24x24. Should look like this (sorry about my crappy artwork). ___________ ___________ I don't think you are going to have enough room to have 8 t5's and a MH in a 24" deep tank. What reflectors are you thinking of using? 3x250 SE with 4 T5s or VHOs should do the trick and allow you to keep anything you want in there. If you are going to run 20k bulbs you may want to think about going with 400's though.
  13. welcome. as far as the tangs go, IMO you will be more than ok as long as you get a decent skimmer and you get both as babies (i.e. quarter size or less than 2"). Alternatively if you are trying to get a 4-5" hippo and 3" yellow, then i would say no way, not enough room. also i will note that generally speaking the smaller specimens are much more sensitive.
  14. my roozens trick is to have bottled water in truck so i can wash off the price, LMAO!!! ummm how about when you give up going to happy hour and get shaky when it is time to walk into the LFS...speaking of which it is friday afternoon, hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm....I better hit send before i just drop everything and walk out of office.
  15. looks like a LTA or florida condi to me....and bob yea the sand appears to be differnts colors from room lighting/shaddowing. u are right though that sand it WHITE! and where is the algal bloom! wait for it.. wait for it..... wait for it....... Boom. haha.
  16. where did you get the Plusrite 14k bulbs from??? would def be intersted in giving them a wing but they do see a little brighter looking than my liking, didn't realize they were only 13, wow!
  17. how do you post pics from gallery with new site. i click on the old insert immage symbol and it has something about the image URL??? also was the allowable picture size reduced with the new site?
  18. I've now ran all spectrums in my LBs powered by coralvues(400w). I think i'm going to try the radiums next. I don't like how you get an almost glare from the 10 and 12k in the LBs. It is soooooooooooooo bright centrally with the 10k's it almost hard to even look at the tank without being irritated. My favorite bulb i have ran so far is the aquaconnect 14k but that was when i had just 1 bulb to buy and they are VERY expensive comparitavely but i definately had the best coral color ever with them.
  19. for me personally i think i can stabalize temp easier in non winter months. I do notice a slight difference in growth and overall heathly apperance.
