  1. Well Honestly I was not sure about a light schedule. Right now they are scheduled like a normal day with the actinics staying on about a half an hour longer than the white bulbs. I have done a good water change and will continue to do them on a regular bases. Any suggestions on a light schedule or is it ok like it is. Thanks for the help. Josh
  2. Here are some updated Pics with some stuff that I picked Up from the Meeting and some other new stuff. Superman Monti Orange/Red Monti Digi? Frogspawn Orange Monti Cap Coral Banded Shrimp Family Photo
  3. Here are some pics of the different algae. I have increased the flow over my sand bed which has gotten the air bubbles to go away and now its just like hair flowing in the water. The Green algae is on the glass really quick. I have 2 Turbo snails but I think its too much for them and it seems like I am using my Magna Float Cleaner Everytime I go by the tank. I guess as long as it is part of the establishment of the tank I shouldnt worry about it too much but I just want to make sure. Thanks for the help Josh
  4. How long has your tank been setup? I have had the tank setup a couple of months but just recently got the lighting What type of lighting did you get? I got T-5 Lighting with 4x24W bulbs Are the bulbs new or old? Brand New Did you have no skimmer before the one you just got? i had a skimmer but it was crappy. This one is deffinitly working What size is your tank? 30 Gallon Tall How often do you do water changes? Probably once a week or at lease thats how often I add water b/c of evaporation. Do you run carbon or Phosphate removal media? Honestly, I got my canister filter from someone so I am not sure what kind of substrate is in there. I am pretty sure that there is not running carbon but just normal Fluval Substrate. As far as water parameters I will have to check and get back.
  5. Noone has any idea what it is or any info????
  6. Ever since I got my lighting and my skimmer I have had an algae outbreak. I have a greenish algae on the sides of the tank and red algae all on the sandbed. The red is kind of weird because it looks like it has airbubbles coming out. I was just wondering if this is a normal cycle that I just have to go through, Is it bad, if it is bad what can I get to get rid of it. Also what normally causes it, is it overfeeding is it the lighting. I can take pics if that helps Thanks for the help Josh
  7. I was just wondering what everyone thought would be some good coral recommendations and coral type recommendations for my tank. I currently have some zoas and a small ricordia. Also have some pulsing xenia and GSP that I am keeping confined the best I can. I have 4x24 w T5s. I would rather stay away from stuff like kenya and things that spread like wild fire. I have had rocommendations of some Monti. Anything else? If you have some for sale/trade/free please let me know. Thanks Josh
  8. Doing some research on anemones and came across this. Thought that someone might find this usefull before buying an anemone http://www.carlosreef.com/AnemoneFAQ.pdf Hope this helps. Josh
  9. I am pretty sure you guys are talking about Mikes Aquatic world. His store has gone down hill since I first started with my fresh water tank. I went a couple of weeks ago and couldnt believe the way the store looked and smelled.

  11. 1. I just got a better skimmer today to set up. So no worries there. 2. The clam is NOT epoxyied to the rock. It is attached to a disk that i have placed on the rock. 3. Yes I know that the tang is SUPPOSED to be in a bigger tank and as I have told many others, It is doing great right now and if it gets to big or if I notice that it is having troubles I will gladly rehome it to a bigger aquarium. 4. What do you mean by the anemone doesnt look "Mature" I appreciate all the concern and I reallize that I made some inpatient mistakes. I am trying to fix as many of them as I can. Everything is doing great so far with no problems yet(not saying that there wont be any). As you guys are asking me to be patient, Please be patient with me as I try to correct some of my things. Thanks again for all the suggestions and I appreciate all the help Josh
  12. No worries. Everyone is saying that it is a difficult anemone and that I should wait. I will. I will just be patient with the hosting and see what happens. Thanks everyone for the suggestions. Any other are welcome.
  13. I have been piecing it together for the past few months. It has been going with Livestock in it for a little over a month maybe 2
  14. Ok, So I bought an anemone a couple of days ago. Its a GBTA. I have a mated pair of False percula clowns that I was really looking forward to them hosting in the anemone. I was doing some research(which probably should have been done before buying) and noticed that a lot of sites feel that it is very rare for False Percs to host in Bubble tip anemones. Any comments on this topic. Should I look into getting something else? If anyone has a carpet anemone they would like to re-home or sell a lot of my reading says I would have a better chance with that. Is there anything that I can do to make the clowns more "Attracted" to the anemone. Thanks for the Help Josh
  15. That worked. Now if I can just get it to stay put.
  16. What is the easiest way to get the anemone off of the glass. It seems to be onthere pretty good. I am trying right now to put the current flow at it to see if it will move from that spot. Any other suggestions
  17. I am looking for LFS near Reston that are actually worth going to. I have been going to Marine scene and yeah its nice but their prices are not. Anyone know of any other stores close by. I heard F&F, and I will probably give that a try, but anything closer?? Thanks Josh
  18. I will have to give that a try probably, I need to get a couple more pieces of LR though, The current setup I dont have an Anchor.
  19. Its a GBTA, here is where it is right now and In my opinion it doesnt look as good as it did when it was at the bottom of the tank.
  20. Okay, may be a dumb question but is there any way to control where an anemone settles down and stops moving. Mine so far has either stopped behind my LR and facing the Back of the tank. or now it is up by the outtake of my filter. (keeping an eye on it to make sure it stays away from intake) Any suggestions of how I can keep it to the front or even away from the top part of the tank.
  21. I can't Do it yet, She is doing good so far. When she gets to big or if she gets to looking rough I will gladly give her up but right now she is doing great. Any monetary value for the rock
  22. Tracy, how much for the combo rock with the zoas and polyps thanks Josh
  23. My little Hippo tang usually hangs around my clowns.but my clowns dont go into my anemone yet. I think that my Female clown even gets annoyed by it because she will nudge the tang. I dont know about everyone else but thats my expierience what very little I have.
  24. WIll post new pics of clam fully open and doing great
  25. I Know that the tang will get big quick, I plan on eventually getting a bigger tank and if the tang outgrows the tank before I can get a new setup I will have to get rid of it. It is only like an inch right now maybe an inch and a half. As far as the clam, I figured that it just hadnt opened all the way cause I just got it a little before I took the pics. It has opened up a little more since then but I dont think that it is open all the way. just waiting for it to settle down and waiting to find a good place for it. I understand the concer with the Hippo tang and I am prepared to do what I need to if it gets out of control. It seems to be doing great so far though so we will see how it does.
