  1. My chiller is 1/3hp and it can handle about 8-25GPM and I just estimated the water flow from the drain line. I have it towards the lower side so more water can stay in the chiller. You are right water is going to main tank at same time it's going to chiller. It's working as one big cycle b/c main tank is draining the warm water back into to the sump and chiller is picking up and mixing it at same time.
  2. I wish you lived little closer; too far of a drive for me :( . Good luck
  3. If I were to do it I would go with Mag7.. but I have plumbed my chiller with my return pump which also feeds my frag tank. I put a ball valve so I can reduce the pressure. below pic give your some idea how I have it. Only difference is that my frag and chiller lines are swapped and chiller drains in the main drain area..
  4. I have a same system I'll let you know what it reads when I get home this evening. Mine read aroud 1 or 2ppm few weeks ago when I checked; but my filters are few months old also.
  5. I don't have it setup but that's what I found on net if I ever decide to do it I'll do more searches
  6. you will need broadband internet connection, usb webcam which comes with webcam software and Microsoft Windows Media Encoder version 9. Windows Media Encoder is a free download.
  7. I think it makes more sense to buy new pump for $150 then spend $110 for just new impeller
  8. The reason why I did it this way is to have fresh water go to the frag and main tank after skimmer/fuge and also I think Mag 36 is probably too strong for direct return to my display which only have about 10' head loss. I know I can reduce the pressure but I was thinking if I add frang tank via T's to return line it will reduce some pressure.
  9. DaveS that's a good point, I didn't think of the back pressure in the return line from the chiller drain. how about if I keep the chiller where it is and change the drain back to sump? either in drain chamber of return chamber?
  10. What do you suggest drain it back into the return chamber?
  11. Ron thanks for your reply.. Chiller intake has ball valve to reduce the pressure going into the chiller and drain comes back to main return. Currently I have it running in my sump with another pump which dumps the water back into retunr chamber of the sump after going through the chiller.
  12. I am tryingto add chiller and frag tank to my sump. I am planning on using Mag 36 for this setup. Please let me know if this looks good or should I plumb it differently? I am not sure if this is an efficient way of plumbing through the chiller and frag tank? I am planning on using flex PVC for the most part but will use hard pvc if I have to. Comments/suggestions are welcome thanks Sid
  13. If you have or had use tradewind chiller with Ranco controller please pm me as I just bought this chiller (used) and set it up but want to make sure it's done right.
  14. I kept it in vinegar for some time then shaved off the grove to make it smooth, I then cleaned the pump and chamber where impeller goes really well with vinegar. I made sure there are no groves/paticales that are sticking out which will rub against the magnet. I put everything back and it started running, no noise or anything. So far it's been running since Saturday afternoon and no issues.
  15. mine started out that way and now I have so many that I can't even count.
  16. just an update.. I was able to fix the same impeller and it's been working since yesterday aftenoon just fine. I'll be buying a backup 1262 just in case but as long as it's running I'll keep this.
  17. I have 1262 pump if that's what you were asking about the model number. also the part is $107 and new pump cost $158.. this is crazy that impreller cost this much.
  18. ok after soaking it in the vinegar I was able to take the impeller out and look what I found... I need new impeller...if you are wondering what that fuzzy stuff on the impeller is, that's mesh mod for this impeller. where can I get the impeller from?
  19. no it doesn't turn freely, I didn't saok or clean it ever since I got it November 2008. Should go and try to soak it in vinegar? what kind of vinegar should I use? and how long should I soak it for? thanks Sid
  20. Hi, I have GSA standard 8 skimmer which has Eheim 1262 pump which I noticed this morning stopped working. I took it out and inspected it and put it back in and still no luck. There is not even a sound or anything. I am not sure what happened? Dan (@ GSA) if you read this can you please let me know if this pump is covered under warranty? Should I be really concern not having skimmer for few days? Thanks Sid
  21. I found the ingrediants but how do you make it? hehe just put it all in mixer?/
  22. I tried the search option but for some reason it doesn't work for me :( I'll look for Rod's food recipe
