  1. Eew try rubbing with some lemon. That usually gets any seafood smells out.
  2. I am purchasing Steve's tank out in Woodbridge and moving it to Ashburn on Sunday. I need a couple strong guys maybe 2ppl in Woodbridge and 2ppl in the Ashburn to help lift. The tank is acrylic and should weigh about 150 lbs. Timeframe needed is 12pm at Woodbridge @ Steve's house and 2pm in Ashburn Brambleton neighborhood very close to South Riding. I promise you will be home before the big kick off on Sunday Anyone and all help is much appreciated. Niki
  3. The tank is looking amazing! I love the aquascaping.
  4. Brilliant idea can't wait for the final product to be on the market.
  5. Wow that is pretty awesome. Thanks for sharing.
  6. Hey Wamas, Does anyone know of a good company/person or even anyone on the forum to build custom cabinet/stand for fish tank for a relatively fair price? Decided against putting the tank in the utility room and going with building shelving around it to make it look in wall. Thanks, Niki Examples found online
  7. Thanks for the offer Steve. I'll let you know once I see the tank. I've seen the glassholes.com videos it looks pretty straight forward but still def not comfortable drilling a tank on my own...shaky hands and all Question why is common practice to put the overflow on the length side of the tank? Wouldn't it be prettier on the width side, is there a integrity issue with that?
  8. haha initially I was apprehensive with the idea of siliconing the overflow back on now...you have me scare sh*tless on drilling. It would be nice to leave them off and save on all that space but I don't have any tools or the confidence to drill the tank
  9. I am thinking about purchasing this tank I found on Craigslist. It is a 150 Gallon reef ready tank. The problem is the owner removed the black overflow boxes. I think it should be pretty easy to put back in right, just some good old silicone. But just to be sure I wanted to check with you experts first. Also does anyone know why are there 4 holes for this tank? My last tank only need one on each side for the plumbing going into the sump and back into the tank. Pic of tank the 4 white holes are the drilled holes behind the overflow.
  10. Khanh, Great tank, I see the kids have not slowed you down Thanks, Niki
  11. Sorry for hijacking. All the information provided was very informative, and I will definitely used in the near future.
  12. What if you purchased a fish from the store? Should they still be quarantine and treated with medicine before sending them into the main display tank?
  13. Very cute picture. I love that he looked straight at the camera.
  14. Do copepods need sand to survive in a tank?
  15. Yep dried seaweed. I think you have all the bases covered and don't need to supplement with anything else.
  16. Sailfin Blenny....aka Godzilla, the uglist yet best fish ever own. The only fish that was there with me till the end.
  17. I use to clip some seaweed in the tank for my Tangs. They went crazy for them. You can give that a try.
  18. Wow! I really like the shadow box idea. It makes the tank look even more realistic. I might have to use that idea now. I am glad I am not the only one eager to break down the wall. I really wanted to sledgehammer the hack out of the wall, but cutting it would be more practical.....I guess maybe after a couple of beers we can rethink the sledgehammer idea lol I can probably market it as wheel chair accessible utility room. I noticed you put some black zip tie like things during the aquascaping the rock formation. Did you leave them in there and let the coraline algae grow around it? Deal! Now I just have to learn how to cook some Thai food. The only thing I can cook are nam tok and a spicy pork belly curry unfortunately.....maybe pizza will be safer for all
  19. I am also half Thai and Chinese, but mainly speak Thai at home.
  20. Sa wat dee khai! How have you been! I see you have upgraded to a 600 gallon since I was last here...congrats! I can definitely use your help! I am thinking about doing a bare bottom tank and as I recall your beautiful tank was the reason The wall being there all empty has been calling me to decorate it for 5 years now. I figure it is time.
  21. Good idea! I forgot about the frame part. It would be ideal but I already secure the 120G.
  22. Great! Thanks for your input. Now if I cut the wall how hard would it be to put it back if I were to move? I should be able to save the cut pieces and mesh it together right?
  23. Wamas it has definitely been a long time. I guess I could not stay out forever I am debating on cutting my basement wall to put up a 125 gallon tank up. I assessed the room as much as I can and I think it can be done. The only problem is I am not 100% sure. There is a beam that looks to be sitting on some wood panels. I don't think the wood panels are holding the beam up, since there is a metal cylinder at the end of the beams that goes into the concrete. I like to be 100% sure before I do any cutting. Can anyone tell from these pictures? Wall outside the utility room with measuring tape measuring length of the tank Metal cylinder that looks to be holding up the beam Wood Panels Beam onto top of wood panels
  24. WOW Chris! They are looking very happy
