  1. Larry is right. Vienna Metro is closed today. Orange line terminates at West Falls Church station. Take the shuttle bus Vienna. It stops on the South Side of Vienna Metro at Vienna/Fairfax-GMU: Nutley Street, bus bay G We can pick people up from there. s
  2. Hi all, Life just got easier for our members! After a long slog, WAMAS now has a credit card merchant account. We will be able to accept credit/debit purchases at meetings finally. WahOOO... Principle reason we took this action was to support MACNA XVII. Makes life a ton easier and enables us to sell day passes, raffle, shirts, books, etc. Regards, steve
  3. I buy my impellers at at www.premiumaquatics.com. I think www.championlighting.com also has them. s
  4. Hi George, I consider your post a nice Birthday Present (mine was a couple days ago). Looking forward to seeing you at MACNA. How 'bout you post up some pictures of the colonies you can share in the Gallery? That should spark some real horse trading... Steve

  11. Get a stud finder w/deep scan capability. Carpet has no impact then. Go visit the county. They have the construction plans for all housing built in the area. You will know much more detail about your house than you ever wanted to know. s
  12. add (2) 96W PC Actinic 03 bulbs if you can for me. Square pin. !!! better late than never?:p Just noticed (thanks Craig) that one of my bulbs actually gave up the ghost. Need to replace 'em.
  13. The framing/bracing of the top of the tank is structural and assures that the corner joints will not come un-done. Recommend not doing it. What is your reasoning for doing the mod? s
  14. Michael did a great job explaining it. As a volunteer group, typically Craig, Glenn, Nathan or I deal with this, but consistency may be difficult all the time. I apologize. I'm sure this will come up at our officer's meeting tonight. That said, did you join? FS/FT in Member's section does see a fair amount of traffic! Love to have you with us! s
  15. Article on Cyclop-Eeze Found this article recently. Seems that Argent Chemical Laboratories, Inc., is the source for Cyclop-Eeze in all its variants. Very interesting article about what this product really is and how it is made. Steve

  18. Hi all, We have been progressing rather nicely on our goal of becoming a 501c3 status, non-stock, non-profit corporation. To assure success in filing for this restricted IRS status, we have been working with the Fairfax Bar Association's non-profit legal support program. Through this effort, we have a new set of bylaws. Key changes from the previous set: - Much better definition of Directors and Executive Officers. - Cleaner definition of quorums and manners of acting (including electonic methods) - Clear language that complies with regulations for 501c3 status We will be seeking a vote of the membership at tomorrow's meeting on these bylaws, as we will have a majority of members present. Steve
  19. 2x250W MH Iwasaki 6500 2x96W PC Actinic 03 = 692 Watts
  20. Michael, what are the temperature ranges that induce the behaviour? Over 86deg F? Seems many of the bigger events went up that high or more to cause the trouble... s
  21. To my knowledge, you do not use teflon tape for brass to brass fittings for high pressure gasses. Ask around. I used a bit of pipe dope and really tightened those fittings. Ask a SCUBA regulator tech how they do it. That will likely lead you to a source of the leak. I'll bet Roberts services what they sell. They may be willing to service your regulator. s
  22. I use a Mag7 personally for my 90G system. Many use QuietOnes for external pumps. s
  23. I would suspect that the MHs will eventually cloud if not melt the acrylic. Second, you do need evaporative cooling. Maybe you could use some kind of netting? Others may have ideas. What kind of hood do you have? An open top tank is often a jumper's dream. What stresses are going on? Were you seeing fish scoot around to try to get away from each other? What hiding places did they have? I've heard wrasses can be jumpers... s
  24. How're the kalk reactors going? What's the latest news? Pics? s
  25. ]]]sory Patience grasshopper... a 2 hour response on our boards is often a quick answer... We are active, but we are not trendofthemonth instant answer sometimes. Nice to have ya visit w/us. Are you planning to come to MACNA next year? s
