  1. Thanks Eric, please do bring them along. I've been looking for some of those. Is there a place around that rents them? Or a place that sells them inexpensively? I didn't want to pay what glass cages wants for them since I'll most likely only use them this once. We have two here at work that I'm going to borrow too. I figure if I had 10 of them, I'd have enough to make the lift onto the stand easier.
  2. Absolutely! Just let me know. We don't need much of a heads up either. And come on over anytime! Our predator tank should be on the stand this weekend, so hopefully in a few weeks after that, the room will be cleaned back up and presentable again.
  3. Yes, at the home depot. We'll probably be there around 10 am. And of course we'll help you too. I should have a bunch of other guys there too. Home Depot 7486 Streamwalk Lane Manassas, VA 20109
  4. Well, I talked to Glass Cages this afternoon and the new 360g tank will be here on Saturday morning. We'll be driving down to Manassas to pick it up and bring it home. I'd REALLY appreciate any help that anyone can provide in Manassas AND at our house in Round Hill, VA. We will have the stand done before Saturday so we need help lifting it onto the stand too. The tank weighs in at around 800 lbs. In Manassas we're planning on sitting it on the wheels that the 450g was sitting on. Our neighbor is coming with us and he has a truck with a low riding trailer that we'll wheel the tank onto to bring home. Then we'll back the trailer up to the basement door and wheel the tank into the basement. Three of us got the 450 into the basement this way. It took 11 of us to lift it onto the stand though. Please let me know if you can help on either/both ends. We would really appreciate it.
  5. Geez Doug! We need to trade phone numbers so your wife can call me and my wife can call you in situations like this. Patti LOVES the tank as much as I do but I'm afraid she would be very lost in getting emergency power hooked up and getting the flow running again. I did get our generator hooked up and running and wouldn't you know, 5 minutes later the electric came back on. Anyway, our house is basically around the corner from yours. I'd be happy to help out.
  6. Great job and very well thought out! I'm assuming you're going to do something about that power strip hanging down in the 2nd pic? A lot of the equipment used in our systems, when combined, ends up exceeding the amperage rating of those power strips. I would hate to see it catch on fire.
  7. Eric came out today and took some INCREDIBLE pictures of our 450g reef. THANKS ERIC!!! Here is the FTS that really shows the tank. It's a BIG picture so scroll -----> And here is a picture of a busy reef. The fish were having a little snack during this time. That is all in about 4 feet of the 10 foot tank, but almost all of the fish were in the picture.
  8. Yes, we removed the built in overflow box. The bottom of the tank isn't high enough to drain into my sump. Besides, I like the additional room for the rock, fish, and corals. I have around 3,300 gph flowing through the sump/fuge with this configuration. I provide an additional 5,800 gph with a CL powered with a Hammerhead. We're really happy with the flow in the tank. So are the corals. Believe me, I would have preferred to drill holes towards the top and put in a coast to coast skimmer box but I wasn't about to try it.
  9. Looks like a pretty good deal! And the seller has a great rating. He also a 14 day return policy so if it's not what you want, you can probably send it back to him and get your money back.
  10. Thanks Niki. They are the first ones we made so we still need some practice with it.
  11. What is the red coral(?) in the middle, spreading on the rock? I gotta get a frag of that. Are they red Zoas? I really like the improvement! VERY nice reef!
  12. Wow! That's 90 lbs of LR? Some of it must be pretty dense. New fish.... hmmm..... Coral Beauty? Blue spot jawfish?
  13. Congratulations!!! Depending on the temp that you keep the room that the tank will be in, you might want to reconsider seahorses. The water needs to be kept at between 68 and 74 degrees. That's pretty cool water. They do well with just some macro algae in the tank for them to "hitch" to.
  14. We bought one of the new Olympus, waterproof 1030SW cameras. OK! A small video showing the fish swimming. A small, shaky video IN the water on the right side: A small, shaky video IN the water on the left side: Enjoy!
  15. Thanks Lance! We can't get over how the corals fluoresce under the Solaris moon lights. Amazing!
  16. Anytime Maureen and Jon. I don't think they make a camera good enough to do it justice. It's really a busy tank though. Everyone seems to be getting along though. I'm sure that by tomorrow, things will really calm down. We shook everyone up with the move and we distrubed the ones that were already in the tank by adding all the rock, corals, and fish. Everyone ate though. Now it's about time for the lights to enter moon light mode and all the fish will disappear.
  17. Everything is moved. It's a busy little tank now. Everyone seems to be getting along though. I see one of the damsels show aggression occasionally, but even they are getting along good. I think the Purple and Hippo tangs are just too busy exploring for now. All the corals have opened up too. Amazing! I didn't lose anything so far, not even a snail or a crab. Pictures later. We'll make a video tomorrow of the activity too.
  18. I saw that too. We went and looked him over good after that and it did look like a start of it. This morning he was all clear again. We're just keeping a close eye on him. He's eating great and I'm soaking his food with SelCon, Garlic, and Zoe. That's kept our Hippo Tang Ich free for almost a year now.
  19. Please excuse the dirty glass, but here are some pics of our new additions to our family. All the tangs are babies, except for yellow. Powder Blue: Achilles: Yellow and Powder Blue: Powder Brown and Achilles: Anthias and Coral Beauty: Powder Brown:
  20. I doubt if you're going to have noise. The water will flow through the bulkhead and down the pipe. You'll probably hear some water falling noise but I doubt if it will be much.
  21. I received an Achilles from Live Aquaria today. And I stopped by Marine Scene on my way home and bought a beautiful, larger yellow tang AND a poor, skinny looking powder blue. Also picked up three cleaner shrimp. Everyone has been acclimated and added into the 450. Everything looks great so far. The powder blue seems to be the dominate one which kind of surprises me. I figured the achilles would take over the tank. They're all eating and looking fabulous.
