  1. http://www.truvuaquariums.com/ma00300w.html Limited Lifetime Product Warranty Products manufactured by Aqua Plex Products Inc. / TRUVU Aquariums carry a lifetime warranty against leakage. Third party products distributed by Aqua Plex Products Inc./TRUVU Aquariums or included within our products are covered by that manufacturers warranty. Those third party warranties must be presented to their respectful companies. I've had mine 14 years and counting. I also have a 29 that I have had 12 years with zero problems.
  2. It's worth a trip if you haven't been there. ALL of our WAMAS sponsors are pretty darn good, and worth a trip to IMHO.
  3. For anyone interested Chris Brightwell is going to be at the next CMAS meeting this Sunday at 5 PM. November 2nd 5pm Chris Brightwell of Brightwell Aquatics Bio: Chris Brightwell has been an avid aquarium hobbyist for over 27 years. Much of his childhood and adolescence was spent studying aquatic organisms, setting the stage for his pursuit of an education in the Marine Sciences. Chris earned a Bachelor's of Science in Marine Science from Coastal Carolina University, focusing on the physiology, behavior, biology, and ecology of fishes, as well as Marine Chemistry. After graduation, Chris was hired by Kent Marine to take charge of research and product development, as well as advanced technical support, a position he held for six years. In 2006, Chris put the finishing touches on two books, The Nano-reef Handbook and Marine Chemistry, A Complete Guide to Water Chemistry in Marine Aquariums, both published by TFH Publications. In 2007, Chris founded Brightwell Aquatics in Catawissa, PA, a company that focuses on aquarium water care and nutritional supplements based on current understanding of Marine Biology, Marine Chemistry, and Limnology as they pertain to aquarium husbandry. Throughout his career in the aquarium industry, Chris has authored several articles for domestic and international aquarium hobbyist periodicals, consulted for aquaculture and mariculture operations, and spoken at numerous aquarium club meetings and events. Here is also a link to the meeting location.
  4. Here is the thread on here Read the whole PDF, and if you have questions after that I'll be happy to help, but no to your question. Your about 50% right. BTW The download is located in the first post.
  5. Actually your not replacing, your adding more to the system the first 4 to 5 weeks. After that I believe you replace about a 1/4 total each month. For me the cost of the media is about 5 bucks month for my 240 gallons. After week 5 you adjust to your needs. I dose now [in my 7th week] 5ml of microbacto7 a week, and 5 ml of biofuel every other day. The biofuel is your carbon dosing.
  6. Tell him Mark sent ya. Carbon no if you don't want to, but phosphate remover needs to go. I personally stopped using carbon, and my water is right now the best it has ever been, not to say I won't add it later down the road. Here is a good thread on RC with people using the system and posting their results. The only negative I have read, is from people not following the directions. Everyone else seems quite happy.
  7. The Aquarium Company. Sean can also break down the entire system, and explain it all. There are about 30 people that I know of that are now running this type of setup. Some are now parting with calcium reactors completely, and going full tilt dosing, but that's another topic... Deep sand beds don't always work. Ask Lanman, or Highlandreefer.
  8. Neozeo and Zeofit are medias you add to a reactor. Because I use Neozeo I also add two liquids you add to the water which are Microbactor7 and then two weeks later you start Biofuel. Both are cut back after that depending on your water perams, and you just maintain after that adding 25% new media every 4 weeks or so. You can elimanate any type of phosban, or charcoal as well which helps keep your cost around the same if you use that method. I'd recommend reading up on the NeoZeo system if this is something your considering. There is a thread in this section on it.
  9. The daily dosing is only the first two weeks. After that you cut it back to your needs. Besides that, that's what dosing pumps are for.
  10. Don't be scared, walk to the light In all seriousness I have both undetectable nitrites, nitrates, or phosphates. So long as you have a reactor laying around which I assume you do, it is a $30 dollar investment that will pay off in two weeks. It is also similar to vodka dosing, except that this is actually designed for tanks, and not cocktails.
  11. Sounds like your in the need of Zeofit or Neozeo. Both medias with their counterparts work really well at getting rid of Nitrate's and Phosphates.
  12. I have an extra 55 if anyone needs it. Already cleaned, and housed salt water for 4 months.
  13. I have a yellow and a purple, and they fight like cats and dogs at times. They will go for weeks at a time letting each other heal completely, then the next thing you know they look like they were both in a war. Mine are basically both the same size.
  14. It varies depending on how much you are feeding them, but yeah mine has been known to lose his/her shell twice in a month, or close to that.
  15. The "Balling method" is named after Hans-Werner Balling. It is a way to supplement your reef with calcium, sodium carbonate, magnesium, trace elements, and amino acids. There seems to be different versions of this method ranging from Balling Full, Balling Light, Balling Complete, to Balling Complete plus. Most of the information is in German but a few sites are translated into English. Heinz's Balling method Fauna Marin - Claude Schumacher's Balling Light Ralph Prehn's Balling method Happy Reading!
  16. Fin and Feathers in Ashburn does as well.
  17. From the research I have done [mostly based on the zeofit tanks] the ones that really look killer are the ones only growing SPS corals. I'm slowly getting rid of my softies to my lil 29.
  18. I guess it has been around for a while, but the first time I read abut it was here There are a couple making there way in to the country, and a couple that have been around. IMHO, the wave of the future in reef keeping.
  19. Right now I dose Brightwell's calcium daily at the rate of 5ML on about 150 gallons and I stay at around 428 with 10% weekly water changes. As soon as the balling machines are a little more available, I will be going that direction.
  20. Not sure how I would have known it came from RC. That is not where I got it from.
  21. So I heard. Let me know when you get your balling pump in. I'd like to stop by and check it out, and see your progress!
  22. Not that I am aware of.
  23. Glad it worked out for ya. I could hear my sister now if you had broke that thing.
  24. Support your local fish store! Some of the vendors on this very site can help. If we don't support them, they will close.
  25. Very bottom of the page, right side. Give it 10 or so seconds to load.
