  1. thats awesome! do you have any other pics from the fishery? i'd love to see em. I had no idea that they used to live in the potomac, i wonder why they don't any more... a three eyed sturgeon would be sweet!
  2. what makes you think that they are parasites?
  3. put it in a low flow area on top of a rock, it will eventually grab it. Mushrooms generally appreciate being in low flow areas anyways. And by appreciate i mean they will open up fully and look better.

  13. All of my live rock is sold. I still need to sell this tank setup. I will post pictures soon. I would like 700 for the package. OBO It is a 40 gallon acrylic tank, 36" long, 15" wide, 17 inches tall. The back is black acrylic, the front and sides are one piece of acrylic so the corners are seemless and rounded. It is not drilled. It is made by Clear for Life It will come with the following... a nice wood cabinet stand and hood, a coralife light fixture (a 150w metal halide w/ 2 65w pc's) including 2 extra MH bulbs and 2 extra ballasts, a 8 watt current usa gamma uv sterilizer ( 1mnth old bulb)and its pump, 2 koralia 2 powerheads, a bakpak 2r protein skimmer with pump, 1 black stealth 200w heater 1 coralife timer for the lights and 1 power strip 1 50 gallon per day coralife RODI unit, 2 mnths old, only made about 100 gallons with it.
  14. I have been mixing instant ocean and 55 gallons of RO water in an empty 55 gallon tank for a week or so now. I added more salt a couple of days ago and I have noticed white flakes on the surface of the water. very soft flakes. Could this be calcium precipitation? Anyone else experience this? I have had 2 whisper 301's in there for circulation. I just added an airstone and a heater.
  15. beautiful tank! very natural looking and unique. please keep the pics coming as progress continues!
  16. That is funky gorgeous! I love the huge montipora caps. Did you buy big specimens or do you just have awesome growth in your tank? How long did it take for the montipora to get so big? did you use a calcium reactor?
  17. I have found that if you clean your acrylic tanks more frequently the coraline will not grow on it so easily. Has made a big difference in my tank. Also acrylic is way better for viewing your livestock. It is as though there is nothing between you and the fish. However starphire glass seems to be a pretty good option as well. I have never seen a starphire tank so I am not sold yet. When i had a glass tank I used to wake up in the middle of the night thinking that I had heard dripping... it drove me crazy. That is another nice thing about acrylic. Also acrylic is a great insulator. I think this has all been said but I thought it might help to hear it from a lot of people
  18. If you already have it in your tank, I wonder if you could put it in a refugium and use it as a nutrient scrubber? Anyone, anyone... anyone
  19. I loved your 80 gallon build thread! I can't wait till you post again for this mamma jamma. Thanks!
  20. WOW! ... WOW! You are the man. I really want to see this tank when it is set up.
  21. WOW, I'm glad you caught that and thanks for letting us know. I have a coralife timer on my tank right now. I'm gonna have to do something about that. If anybody has any suggestion please post em. Thanks, Tom
