  1. Folks, I see that hellolights has the ARO VHO 2 lamp ballast for about $35. They are also throwing in for free 2 pairs of endcap mounts.Thats a $10 value. The 3 piece endcaps are like $10 a pair. The 48" super actinic lamps are like $15 each. I figure it will be about say $85 for a 2 lamp VHO setup, not accounting for the cost of shipping and wires etc. I emailed hello lights to see if they will offer free shipping or any discounts on club purchases. They have asked me to call and discuss over the phone. I will post a followup after my conversation with them. Now does anyone else want to order anything else from them. The more $ amount we can tally up, the more they might be inclined to cut us a deal. Either way, they are one of our club sponsors. Please let me know. thanks krish
  2. It appears that we need a roll call of who will be there on sunday to share and split up the bags. Let me start Krish - 1/2 bag -krish
  3. Chip, I am gonna be in on sunday. So per Dave, he has a 1/2 bag for me. I will bring a bucket, goggles and the respirator mask thingy as well -krish
  4. Doug, Sounds good. I am sending you a message with contact details. Lets hook up tomorrow. Its probably late for ya today. But if the stuff is sitting in the car/truck and you are still at work like i am, come on in this evening -krish
  5. Doug, Do you want someone to grab the items and take it to Chips place for sunday.? I will also need to pay up for the other goodies we pooled in. thanks krish
  6. Chip, I might be able to make it. Hope nothing unusual comes my way to disrupt the plan for now. See ya all soon. -krish
  7. Doug, I will go with the 90 degree fittings on two of my reactors and probably on the one for kannan as well. So that uses up the 3 spare ones that you mentioned about. If Chief and you feel its better to use the 90deg fittings, theres gotta be a reason Chief, you set the date and we will come on over. Weekend is better for me. -krish
  8. Chip, Cool. I will now have my 42 Hex have its own Kalk reactor. The wife is gonna love fixing problems on more systems while i am on travel. Well, the proposal now is to have me take the tanks and then travel Can we engrave WAMAS using James's new laser toy on the reactor square base plate Hehehe, I know iam asking too much from James. Thanks James. I am sure the thumbscrew holes are gonna align real well. -krish
  9. James, Thanks for the effort. We are having a professional grade stuff coming along. :p -krish
  10. Chip, so was that after i claimed the additional one or they were gone prior to my claim -krish
  11. Chip/Doug, I will hold one extra Kalk reactor. When we meet again, i will pay up for the plastic($40) and the MJ/fittings(approx $20). That leaves 3 unclaimed ones. -krish
  12. Doug/Chris, Whoever gets to place the order, would if be possible to add on these 2 items from Marine Depot as well. Hopefully we will make it over the free shipping limit. Marine Snow - Item Code: TL3111 $9.50 Freeze Dried Cyclopezee - Item Code: LF1311 $12.00 Will pay up when we meet again. thanks krish
  13. Folks, Got a call from Kannan. His dosing pump failed and dumped Kalk into the display tank, thus causing a pH spike to around 9.66 or so. He has already added some 15ml vinegar to bring it down to 9.16. Probably add some more vinegar to bring it into the high 8's. The lights will be kept turned off for a day to help it. I will swing by his place, take a look and come over to the party. In the meanwhile, if there is something that we need, please call me.I will PM chip my mobile #. There is a Home Depot across Kannan's place and i will be able to pick stuff for us. see ya all soon. -krish
  14. Folks, I will bring in the following. a) Drill bits b) 1 pair of gloves and a safety glass. c) The router bits( a small box) d) Metal files for whatever it is worth. e) I can do the photography Oh, i am looking for the Oregon Tort. Will buy it from you if you have a frag. I already have the California Tort. Just thought i might as well ask See ya all soon. -krish
  15. ctreptow, Just lower the salinity of the display tank to somewhere around 1.019 and the ick should be under control. My tank salinity dropped to 1.021 when i had a disaster and the auto-topoff kept adding freshwater. Now the Hippo looks darn clean. I plan to keep it at the same level for a couple of months. The tank has been running at 1.021 for over 3 weeks and i would say that the SPS and softies are growing well with no perceivable difference. Don't mess with the hospital tank etc. You will be stressing the fish even more. I have lost a bunch of fish in the past going that route. Just leave em in there and start dropping the salinity. My 2 cents and of course, come to the building party. -krish
  16. Folks, Jose, thanks for clearing my misconception. Darn, got back from business travel this week and it appears that i missed the boat. Well, i don't mind splitting 1/4 of a bag or whatever to go with the DIY kalkreactor that we are putting together. Tip: We can stock it airtight in the IO salt bucket. it can go into a trash bag, placed inside the salt bucket thanks krish
  17. Boy, I remember that this stuff is used to whitewash walls in Asia. On adding water, this thing will just boil and one needs to be careful Too bad. I plan to use it with a reactor or would be glad to chip in. -krish
  18. Chip, You have my vote in for it. Forget about gas. Time is even more valuable. Hence getting it delivered home for a few extra bucks wins hands down. I am sure the other members will feel the same way. More over, getting a 4x8ft sheet requires a truck. Can't put it inside or on the roof of a car either. -krish
  19. Folks, How about ordering some bulk Kalk powder as well? Would be nice to go with the new reactor. Sunday is good with me. tnx -krish
  20. Chip, Sorry, missed on the Sunday chat. Lets go with the black sheet. Sure does look good. My Ca reactor has blue sheet. The the 4x8 is divided up among a bunch of folks, the cost difference is marginal. Please let me know if no one has picked up the purchase of the 12+ powerheads( maxijet 400's). I can run with it. Please confirm. thanks krish
  21. Chip et all, Can we have a roll call of the folks who have signed up for the Kalk reactor project. I want to get in and so would kannan_l. May be a good chance for other folks who want in as well. tnx krish
  22. You can inform them to be meticulous with the silicone on the front and sides. Ask them to be generous everywhere else. When i ordered mine last march, i read a post on RC about a tank that leaked less than a year into use. After i got mine, i cleaned it up well and added another coat of silicone. Mine has euro bracing and is feakin heavy. Its now about 13 months and doing well. Would i purchase another tank from them? - Absolutely. Can't beat the cost/Quality/Custom order flexibility/Almost Free delivery option. -krish
  23. Michael, I would like to join the Kalk reactor party. Looking at the cost of the pump/Co2/bubble counter etc, i might skip the idea to own a second Ca reactor regards -krish
  24. I want in on the Kalk Reactor DIY party. I already own a MTC Procal Ca Reactor, so would need only the Kalk reactor. -krish
  25. The time spent to rig up such a system and work out the kinks in the software is enormous. Moreover, sensors are expensive -krish
