  1. LOL! I have niether! That's why I joined this hobby- to get more time and patience. I do have time and so I'll go ahead and begin to transfer some of my CC to that tank and hook up with Raf for some live sand. Thanks for your encouraging post, Lee! It only flares when something really stirs it up.
  2. No one?
  3. I have one that cbashaw gave me over a year ago. It's doing fine. I wish I had more! Perhaps we could ask Mr. Coral could do a special???
  4. HI! I've had an offer of rock closer to home and treesprite is passing so that means I will too. Thanks!
  5. Then is this the new way to kill weeds? Sign me up!
  6. HI! If Treesprite is coming down and is willing I'll take some rock. I need 2-4 medium base pieces for my 20 L that is being set up. LMK your thoughts.
  7. Any one have one that I can borrow? It's clearing up nicely- unles it's stirred up - but I just want to be sure. Thanks for all the replies!
  8. I think I'm going to wait until the weekend and see how it is. I'll stir it up on Thursday and if not clear by Sat. then out goes the water. I still have 1 bucket of ro/di water left and then it will be time to go begging again. That is begging for water and for my husband's help to empty and refill it.
  9. One bag of dry sand was new -it was supposed to be prerinsed- and the other sand was graciously given to me by another member. It had been kept wet but it was not necessarily live sand. It has cleared some already. But my main concern was to make sure the water was clean enough for the 3 fish going in there a tomatoe clown and 2 turbo damsels. I will be adding over time thier current pumps, water, live rock, chaeto, and CC too.
  10. HI! YGYPM. Thanks!
  11. So to slightly highjack this thread, when you buy a coral from a store, the chances of this occuring are high? If so then how does one minimize this? Additionally, if it does occur how can the bleaching be minimized and how can the coral recover? I have a recently bought big finger leather that after 1 week in my tank has nearly bleached from flourescent yellow to whitish with some polyps still happpily showing. Should it be fragged to save some of it or would this stress it more? Does the type of coral matter in terms of stress? In other words, are all corals about the same or some types handle it better? Does the type of container matter ie. a bag vs. hard container for transporting? Does the length of time getting it home matter? If temp. matters how can one know the stores temp.? How can one minimize the affects? Thanks for taking the time to read and for your response!
  12. So can I put a temporary shelf in to run it on? And should I run it or just let the cloudiness adjust on it's own? Some of the sand graciously came from another member and some is new as I wanted a 3" to 4'' sand bed in this 20 long. I do have the old aqua tfilter running and a tiny air pump for now. I think I'm going to look for a bigger pump. Any suggestions? Comments?
  13. I've never set this (or any other!)skimmer up before. So here goes for my newly started 20 L, I put in sand and ro/di water. It's expectedly cloudy. SO I want to know: 1. SHOULD I temporarily set up the RS 80 skimmer along with the littte HOB aqua filter to clear up the water and 2. if yes, HOW do I do this with a full tank of water? 3. This is only temporary so what recomendations for a HOB skimmer does anyone have? I'd like to have fish, mushrooms and softies and a nem in this tank. TIA to all!
  14. HI! Problably not new tank syndrome as the set up rivals many in the club and has 4 large tanks for flow, fill, skimmer and a "snack attack" tank filled with cocapods (sp.?). everything else is growing really well. It be worth the time to go see! Scott has an amazing knowledge and ability to figure things out.
  15. LOL! Thanks for the laugh as this wife sits here freezing with a heavy coat and long warm scarf wrapped around her head! And why???? Because someone has left a stubborn -to- hard- to close window open! LOL! Thanks, maybe I'll try taping!
  16. HI! Did you sse the post "how YBenormal saved my marriage''? You might want to consider contacting him. It's a wonderfull post to check out. HTH. Thanks for the response to putting either of the tanks on the first floor. So close and yet so far away!!!
  17. Where in MD can those be found? I'm right in the thick of it too! My DH's CC didn't work and it didn't keep the $ down! LOL! Anyone want to trade CC's?
  18. Pardon the hijacking, but how about on the first floor of a home on the outside wall with plywood subfloors and non-wieght bearing wall and either a 20 gallon or a 55 gallon? Mine 2 are in the basement but sadly I don't see them as much but if it was brought up... aah look!.... What do you all think?
  19. I'm right there with you, Raf. Do you want to share the dunce hat with me?
  20. YEAH! I'll contact them and ask if they would be willling. Thanks, Raf! I hope this can work out. I was just calculating the time and gas vs. the cost of new live sand. I am grateful for the offer of live free sand!
  21. HI Jeff! Oooh wow! That class would be most welcome and greatly appreciated!! Now where's the sign up list?
  22. So that why you were at Mr. Coral's midnight special deal Sat. night! You were checking out the prices to make for the "Johnny's out of town" deals!
  23. By any chance do you have any photos or drawings of the sump with a gravity skimmer? I'm very visual and can't seem to figure this out in my head. I'd like to possibly do this with a 15 long.
  24. HI all! Is anyone heading up the beltway from Woodbridge, VA area any time soon? I need some sand piked up and then transported/brought up closer to Gaithersburg. I am willing to meet you somewhere. I would glady give you a softies frag or a fresh loaf of homemade bread- your choice!
