bues0022 November 20, 2021 Share November 20, 2021 I need opinions on an ATO. I want to make use of BRS Black Friday sales. Which do I get? I’ve been using a gravity feed for a few years, but I’m doing a new build that will need to pump it about 8’ straight up. What’s the best bang for my buck? XP Aqua Duetto is on a good sale. What about the tunze nano with a bigger pump? (Is that the only reason for the price difference from the regular?) advice is appreciated!
howaboutme November 20, 2021 Share November 20, 2021 Once you experience pressure sensor ATO's, you will never go back to float or optical. Only 2 that I know of. Avast (the one I own) and Spectrapure. Avast has a stand alone options where it will allow you to run any pump. You can also tie it to a controller if you have one. I also use their diaphragm pump. Check specs, it may be able to do 8's head. They also offer a float as a back up too.
lowsingle November 21, 2021 Share November 21, 2021 I have used a tunze ATO for so long and never had a failure…..it is incredibly reliable Darren
VA Reefdog November 22, 2021 Share November 22, 2021 I use a double switch- float type switch from autotopoff.com with a Toms aqualifter. It is an economic setup and has worked very well for me. I have used one on a prior tank as well so 2 units over about 5-years. Tunze is probably the mainstay for most people.
jason the filter freak December 3, 2021 Share December 3, 2021 Avast Marine Works with the mechanical float valve back up. I have 3 of their ATOs including one that been running for something like 10 years.
