Customride0105 April 2, 2016 April 2, 2016 Wondering who builds custom acrylic tanks. I'm looking to have a custom dimention tank built. I've spoke to ic and they can not do bends anyone out there that can recommend a place to have a tank built
Origami April 4, 2016 April 4, 2016 The bends that you want may be the biggest limiting factor of our local sources. I suspect that requires a large enough oven and the ability to build forms to get the shape that you want. Are you locked in on a custom curved aquarium? Are you locked in on acrylic? (We had an exhibitor at MACNA that built curved and custom curved glass tanks, for example.)
Customride0105 April 4, 2016 Author April 4, 2016 Yeah I want acrylic as it's going on a counter top and I've found the 100 gallon pentagon tank the correct messurements just 6 inches too tall to fit where I need it to I was going to order one and chop it down to size but 1k and I mess up I'd be mad.I figured it would be cheaper than the 100 gallon tank to have it made. The reason I want acrylic is I need to drill holes where I want them I'm comfortable doing it in plastic last 3 tanks I tryed drilling shattered it. Maybe due to the fact it wasn't drill able no idea.
epleeds April 4, 2016 April 4, 2016 Why not buy the tank and talk with IC about cutting it down. They can trim it and clean it up for you. Not sure how much they will charge but it might be cheaper then having on E custom made

Or, if you talk this through with Adam (at Artfully Acrylic, aka AA&IC), maybe he'd consider giving you an opinion of whether or not this is a viable approach that he could entertain.

If you did that, you found out that tempered glass shatters. Other glass tanks are easy. Video courtesy of one of our earlier WAMAS FragFests. Shatter at 0:55.
Customride0105 April 4, 2016 Author April 4, 2016 I'm getting a few quotes back from places it's actually cheaper to have the tank custom built to my specs cause no overflows no plumbing Yada than a premanafactored tank. Plus won't have to do any cutting or polishing. I don't know if there's any differences but all same size 1/2 tank thickness getting quotes all over the place. From 600 to 4k. What gives. I know some places may charge a little more for install price but 4k seriously.. I'm leaning towards the middle range don't want something that will fall apart in a year and loose a 1500 dollar fish. But time to do some research on the people before I committed to a buy. One of the names mentioned is a contender for the tank..fyi. Thanks gmerek2. And everyone else for the leeds.
Steve175 April 5, 2016 April 5, 2016 +1 for PMing NAGA: he has built 5 high quality tanks for me in the past
