Miscellaneous- food & drinks provided Topic: A 10-year History of my 500-gallon Reef TankThis presentation will discuss the evolution of my 500G over the last 10 years. Reef Aquariums are not static in time. As the aquarist evolves so does the technology, and a 10-year-old reef aquarium may look very different from how it started. There is considerable amount of learning and knowledge acquired that can be used to educate the new and even established reef enthusiasts. With this in mind, I will share my initial design thoughts, and how they have evolved over time along with lessons learned over these years. About Sanjay JoshiSanjay Joshi in real life is a Professor of Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering at Penn State University. He has been a reef addict since 1992, and currently keeps several reefs aquariums at home including a 500G SPS dominated reef. He also co-manages the 500G aquarium at Penn State. Dr. Joshi is actively involved in educating the hobby on various topics such as lighting, aquarium system design and general reef husbandry through his publications in reef magazines and lectures. He has published articles in magazines such as Advanced Aquarist, Reefs Magazine, Coral, Marine Fish and Reef Annual, Aquarium Frontiers, and Aquarium Fish. In addition he has been an invited speaker at several marine aquarium society meetings in the US and Europe. He received the MASNA award in 2006, for his contributions to the marine aquarium hobby.Directions to North Bethesda Middle School:- NOTE: The school is just inside the north edge of the beltway near Old Georgetown Road. Here's a map from Mapquesthttp://mapq.st/21G1TyWSpecial thanks to theses sponsors.
