reeferindc September 30, 2014 September 30, 2014 I recently purchased a coris wrasse from Petland. It is doing fine and healthy( so it appears) except it only comes out during the day when no one is home to feed it or anything. When my lights come on (around 5:30pm) the wrasse is hiding under the sand. Is the wrasse fine scavenging for food during the day when there is no action? How can I coach him out to feed and mingle with the other tank residents when the lights come on?
SunWyrm September 30, 2014 September 30, 2014 He should get used to it in a week or two. If you have plenty of pods and other critters he'll be ok.Soon he'll figure out who brings the food and he'll be out and begging with the rest of your fish.

Coral Hind October 2, 2014 October 2, 2014 If the room that your tank is in gets a lot of daylight coming in windows you could be messing up sleep patterns of your fish causing them to be awake longer then normal. Just something to think about.

My other fish are usually hiding in rocks and nems(sleep) during the day and come out during the evening when the lights come on which is when the wrasse disappears in the sand. The wrasse is usually the only fish out swimming around until the lights come on.The room gets some light. I only have a clownfish, a trio of chromis, and a bi-color blenny.
