fphipps July 16, 2014 July 16, 2014 I posted a few days ago about my acans not doing well under my ATI fixture. I have decided to go and buy some egg crate to diffuse some light. My lights are 17'' off the water water surface. If I do this, should I lower the lights? Or is the amount light diffused by the egg crate not too sufficient?
RW09903 July 16, 2014 July 16, 2014 I talked with AlanM and he bought these plastic stickers used to frost bathroom windows. He might be able to give you the companies name.
AlanM July 17, 2014 July 17, 2014 This is what I put on the clear acrylic that shields my LEDs. It made the light way more even and supposedly blocks only 5%. Blends it more evenly than lenses, though, from what I can see. http://www.nano-reef.com/topic/296282-great-diffusion-material-tested-only-5-light-loss-through-water/
monkiboy July 17, 2014 July 17, 2014 original poster, where are you located? if nearby, i can stop by with a PAR meter and help you gauge with a bit more certainty/confidence your light penetration to your corals.
sen5241b July 18, 2014 July 18, 2014 I have a 150 watt MH 14 inches over the bottom of my 20G long. Too much. I am looking at ways to diffuse also. I saw clear UV overlays used at Marine Scene over an SPS tank.
