tom39 June 28, 2014 Share June 28, 2014 So I was doing a WC, general cleaning and rescaping my tank this morning. One of the rocks that I pulled out had a few mushrooms on it that I was wanting to remove. So Like I have done many times before, I pull the rock and scrape the mushroom from the rock. Most times when I start scraping, they just deflate and the fluid runs out. This time though, it popped and the fluid splashed me in my face and one drop went right in my eye. At first I didn't think much about it and kept working. About a minute later, my eye started to burn, and then the splashes on my face started to burn. I ran to the bathroom and washed my face and hands, pulled my contact and flushed my eye with contact solution. The burning went away on my face almost immediately after washing and in about 5 min my eye stopped burning also. But since then my eye is bloodshot, itches and is sensitive to sunlight. Has anyone ever had this happen to them? If so, did you seek medical attention or did it heal up on its own? Thanks Tom G Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

But now I am off to see a professional, I swear my doctor visit co-pays this month have been as much as my truck payment. Valeria June 28, 2014 Share June 28, 2014 How did it go? Earlier this year something similar happened to me - i wiped my eye with my hands covered in zoanthid slime. I was sent to a specialist who checked for scratches in the eye and told me to flush constantly. He said if it happens again and it burns to seek professional assistance. GraffitiSpotCorals June 29, 2014 Share June 29, 2014 Amanda had a majano squirt her dead in the eye. It was hiding in the rock she was cutting. It messed her eye up for almost 2 months. The er said it was not an emergency and wouldn't admit her... she had to take steroids for a while and was in pain for weeks, swollen and red eye for months. She went to an eye doctor the rest day who said the stinging cells in the nem could have taken her sight or some of it from that eye if she didn't treat it. Amazing how the er said it was no emergency even when we brought paperwork on what stung her! Hope it goes well, I would see an eye doctor. I had it checked out and they flushed it, put a few drops in it (I think it was like an antibacterial) and told me that if it didn't get better by today to come back in and if they could not get it under control they would refer me to a specialist. They also recommended using rewetting drops 2x an hour to help flush everything and keep the eye lubricated. Well by the morning, my eye was still a bit bloodshot but the itching and sensitivity to light had all but gone away and a the day went on it felt better and better. I am hoping that by tomorrow this will be nothing more than a really good learning experience. On the bright side, because of all this I got to buy another piece of aquarium equipment - SAFETY GLASSES! :-) Thank you everyone for all the help and suggestions, you all are awesome.
