This crab came with my TBS live rock, and has grown to a pretty decent size.  I had to move it to my sump because he started eating some of my filter feeders.  He has red eyes and his coloring blends well with the live rock:

A clearer pic would help!

Look at the pincers and see if they ate flattened or cup like or flat on the tips where they meet. Also, look for large sharp serrations on them as an indicator of whether it is a true carnivore.

Claw curved. Pinchers slightly cupped. Very similar to emerald crab.

I thought the hairy ones were supposed to be bad news in the TBS shipments. Probably an oversimplification though.

That is cool you got him.

probably true. All I have seen him eat is algae but he is very aggressive towards me and his tank mate. The clownfish and him were fighting already. He taste tested the anemone (didnt like it) and the clown wasnt afraid to show him who is boss. This guy wont be going in my DT. Really neat and good addition Staying in my Nem and chaeto tank AKA predator tank. The clown bites.

If the crabs are brown or black they tend to be bad ones, I still find them in my tank now and haven't been able to catch them with a trap.  I also had some red Mithrax crabs that have hairy legs but just tend to eat algae for the most part.

Haha I'm glad the clownfish is big and able to handle him.  If he's brave enough to antagonize the clownfish, definitely a good idea to keep him out of the DT.
