As some know Pez and I are upgrading.  We are looking at 250 DD and we are stuck on what tank to buy.  We want something that will last and meet every need now and future that we could imagine.

We have heard that glass cages have improved over the years but at the same time some reviews scare us.

Also the MarineLand will not warranty a tank if you do not use their stand.  We are doing an in wall tank so we would not use their stand.

We also are looking at AGE but not sure on that either.  I heard their tanks are well built but customer service sucks at times.

If you could have your dream tank what would you choose and why?

Side overflows?  PVC bottom?  What brand?

8 foot long, 18" high, 4 feet deep, coast to coast overflow. all glass.

Deep Sea Aquatics in Texas was formed when Oceanic closed shop and all of the builders stayed in the same building and formed DSA.  They make beautiful stock tanks and even nicer custom ones.  They've been posting some really interesting ones on Facebook lately.  They have a reputation of using thicker glass than most tank builders.

I think DSA and Reef Savvy are amazing companies and good customer service.

Aquabox in Richmond does custom glass tanks, Steel stands and awesome acrylic work :-).

Thank you!  We are so ready to get away from the Red Sea Max!

what did you not like about them?

I have a 150g from glass cages it is about 1.5 years old.  It is well built IMO.  In most of the posts I have read about bad experiences with them it was related to some sort of problem.  I had no problems and everything went smooth.

I should say that my tank isn't custom.  It was just a normal tank they build.

We learned all in ones are a pain. The protein skimmer sucks, it is hard to clean, and if you have an issue you do not have the option to add something to your sump etc as you don't have one.

Have u thought about acrylic? Adam makes great tanks and sumps.

Yeah we are so rough on stuff we would scratch acrylic.

I am now trying to figure out the difference between internal corner overflow and attached external overflow?

Thoughts

I have an external overflow on my 300 in wall and it is perfect. I couldn't go any other way in the future. My tank has a PVC then glass then PVC bottom. It was built like a tank (the military one...).

Awesome thanks what do you like about the external over flow?

And what brand is your tank

(edited)

I had a biocube and --yes-- the all-in-1s can be a pain to clean out.

Also not being able to add reactors etc if you need help with an issue sucks!  You are so limited
