ExoticReefCreations October 8, 2013 October 8, 2013 (edited) we have been testing a few PAR38 LED bulbs over the last few months and have settled on a design and bulb that we now want to share with the rest of the community. this grow bulb grows chaeto, caulerpa, dragon's breath, blue ochtodes, mangroves, and we're interested to hear what you are able to grow with it. it has been producing much more growth than the typical CFL bulb in the refugium and macro tanks we have tried them over. we designed it with 12 3w LEDs - 4(430nm) & 8(660nm). it has a really neat heatsink design with soft/rounded edges unlike other bulbs that can catch on wires, clothes, and cut your fingers up. another neat little addition is the diffuser which blends the light nicely but also has a small opening above each LED-center to allow for increased LED penetration. we haven't had the need but the diffuser can be removed completely, as well. it comes with a standard E27 base so it'll plug right up into any of your sockets or the really popular clamp lights. lastly, it comes with a three-year warranty honored to the original buyer. we are working on a special new interactive part of our site to begin the retail sale of our new LED offerings including the evergrow fixtures. in the interim, folks can order this grow bulb here and either have it shipped or pick it up at the WAMAS meeting! we are selling this PAR38 LED grow bulb as part of this intro sale for $60 picked up at the WAMAS meeting or $65 shipped! the sale ends 10/12 so if interested just post up here or shoot us a PM with your first name, how many, and your email; we'll take care of the rest - thanks! roni October 8, 2013 October 8, 2013 This is probably a stupid question but can this screw into the worklight/spotlights that people use for fuges or is there a special fixture it goes into?
ExoticReefCreations October 8, 2013 Author October 8, 2013 This is probably a stupid question but can this screw into the worklight/spotlights that people use for fuges or is there a special fixture it goes into? not a stupid question at all - we had that information in our original post and lost it and had to try to type from memory so sorry for not including. YES - it will screw right in those lights and most sockets in your home. added that information and warranty information to the post - thanks!
YHSublime October 8, 2013 October 8, 2013 For those of you wondering how well these bulbs work... the answer is very. I killed piles of cheato in my sump for months, until I tried the exact same spread listed above. I grew cheato, dragons breath, and red algae with no problems again, Anybody who ever saw the 57 sump saw the size of the pods that used to house in my macro as well!
smallreef October 8, 2013 October 8, 2013 And the only thing to add about the light housing, if the bell is really close to the light consider removing it, there does need a good amount of flow around the bulb and its louvers for the heat to dissipate properly, really easy to do in any of the clamp or work lights I've seen used...

OK, I just spotted this, but (pending Spousal approval) is it too late to sign on? While my 'fuge seems to be doing reasonably well, my wife has been looking to redo some of her house plants, including a dwarf Orange tree, and this could be just the thing.
