Yardright/Southdown sand available?

Hi

 

Does anyone know if Yardright "Tropical Play Sand" (Not the "White Play Sand")

is available anywhere?

 

I went to Southern States in Manassas and they just have the White Play Sand

which does not pass the vinegar test. I'm setting up a 125 and would much

prefer the aragonite sand.

 

 

Anyone have a source?

call Centreville Aquarium and other LFS to see if they carry them before venturing out to look for them, you know since GAS prices are high. it may sound ironic, but have you tried PETCO in Herndon at Clock Tower Shopping Center?

What I'm lookong for isn't sold at aquarium or pet stores.

 

It's bulk sand which is usually found at hardware stores and garden supply stores.

I'm looking for the same thing, as I've got to put sand in my 180 gallon soon, and defintely do not want to pay the premium cost for those 15# bags @ $20-30 each...

The ONLY place that I have found that has the sand is Dr. Mac's. I have looked around the Northern VA area for months and did not find any. Dr. Mac is selling the Southdown Tropical Playsand for $6 per 40lbs bag. I used 5 for 180Gallon.

 

I did not try John at the Koi place as I was not aware of him at the time.

I can get real marine sand for you in 40 # bags, but not at $4 a bag.

I have about 200lbs of it that I'm not going to use.

 

I would be willing to trade it for some macro algae, a pound or 2 of live sand, a frag or anything else you may have, but I will be out town all next week (going to Sea world) so we would have to meet after then.
