Chad March 20, 2013 March 20, 2013 There have been some great ideas in this thread! This one is a really good one that everyone can do (as long as they thing about it before the tank goes on the stand and gets filled!) Between the tank and stand I have a 1/8" plywood sheet that extends out behind the tank several inches. That provides a shelf to put things on as well as a water shield for the electronics under it.
zygote2k March 20, 2013 March 20, 2013 A 12x12 NEMA box will hold 2) DC8's. A bulkhead on the side will allow all cords to be routed through. A grommet fills the void in the bulkhead. The box comes with mounting screws to mount inside the cabinet if you like. It's totally waterproof and you can spray water at it and the electronics stay dry. These cost about $50 or less at an electric supply house.

Just did a search for 12x12, and those prices look better!

Wood glue and 3/4" 1/4 round should be enough to provide support for a 4" ledge after the fact. Just don't try to stand on it.

Just don't try to stand on it. for me the issue would be putting my tank further from the wall, too heavy to really move now that it's on the stand filled with water. mling March 21, 2013 March 21, 2013 Don't mean to hijack this post; but speaking of power, does anyone have a good electrician to recommend in N. Virginia. After reading this and an earlier post of Amps a tank pulls, I think I might want to consider a rewire of my tank's electric supply.
