I think I might built a floating canopy that is suspended from the ceiling with an electric pulley system to raise and lower it like Bob's tank (rocko).

Update that to a pair of hawkfish - they're amazing to watch. Also my falcos leave shrimp alone (peppermints and cleaners), but I think that might just be their personality and nothing to do with the species since all I've heard is that they go after shrimp.

I would think they would be fine if the shrimp was established first as a precaution (at least I read this for triggers). And I know nothing about pistol shrimp, but from what I've read I thought they were supposed to be pretty feisty with other inverts? And wouldn't the gobies help protect them or am I being too optimistic? - just my wonderings...

On the rimless one you're getting from Amuze, you might want to think about clips like the "ADA Cube Garden Hooks" and a screen just under the top edge:

I'm getting a rimless Deep Blue, and I think I'm going to ask Adam to make me a clear acrylic frame that I'll install some clear mesh on and put it just under the rim.

Thanks for the link, I have an ADA rimless and considered a top but I didnt want it to sit on top of the tank. Now I will probably go for it.

Well apparently my brother just informed me that we will be keeping some SPS I guess I can't really argue this is his tank technically LOL and with it being his tank he is pretty dead set on having certain fish like the flame angel and the hawk fish. This is not going to be an over night build like all of my other tanks we will be taking our time and getting everything just the way we want it. I will start the build thread after this weekend with lots of pics.

Please keep the fish ideas coming....

Thanks

I think those clips are basically made of unobtanium at this point, but since I want to do that with my tank which is arriving, I am going to try to make some in our machine shop out of stainless stock. If I succeed, I'll put up a post offering to make them for folks like Muddy357 and trockafella here who have rimless tanks.

That would be awesome I would rather buy them from someone in the club then order them online. Keep me posted.

Let me know if you have any other suggestions

Sounds like a pretty good plan!

though depending on the amount of pods you put in the aquarium you could easily have enough in 6-9 months in that size tank....

I want to be extra sure that I have a huge number of pods because I want a pair and don't want to have to worry about them getting enough to eat.

I understand.... I didnt know I had SOOOO many until I moved those 2 small pieces of rock ans some water into the pico.. and OMG it was like copepod CRAZINESS in there! Im thinking about some mandarins now too for the 50g...

Nice I am either going to get a pair of target mandarins or a pair of red mandarins I am still trying to make up my mind on that.

Both are really nice dragonets. I think because you will already have several other fish in the red color area I would go with the targets.

That is kinda the way I am leaning I want to have a nice selection of colors so that the tank is very colorful and bright.
