Djplus1 January 9, 2013 January 9, 2013 Is there anything special one needs to do (ie cleaning, rinsing, etc.) when feeding a fish a clam in a tank? I have a new emporer that doesn't seem to like my food offerings and was told by LFS to get a clam on the half shell to feed to the fish. Do I just buy one from the seafood dept and drop it in?
smallreef January 9, 2013 January 9, 2013 Buy fresh live clams..rip off the top shell and toss in...may be easiest to try the smaller ones...
Coral Hind January 9, 2013 January 9, 2013 Yes, just buy them from the seafood area, open, rinse, and drop it. If your angel is small you can cut them up. What have you been offering?
Djplus1 January 10, 2013 Author January 10, 2013 Yes, just buy them from the seafood area, open, rinse, and drop it. If your angel is small you can cut them up. What have you been offering? Rod's herbivore blend, frozen Mysis shrimp, spirulina pellets, granulated fish food, flake food, various soaked in selcon. I thought he was eating, but I think he's just racing toward it to look, but not actually taking anything.
Coral Hind January 10, 2013 January 10, 2013 The nori sheet is a good idea. I just rubberband it to a rock. Try thawed table shrimp cut up into small pieces, that might work. How big is it? How long have you had it? Was it eating when you got it?
paul b January 10, 2013 January 10, 2013 I feed all my fish and corals clams from the store. I eat them first and give them the leftovers. If you freeze the clam it is much easier to shave off paper thin slices.
Djplus1 January 11, 2013 Author January 11, 2013 I just got him to eat some hikari angel food I picked up at Roozen's today. That was essentially the problem since everywhere local, was out this week. Hopefully he wasn't just starved, as he did eat the first couple days, but stopped eating right after. Of course now he looks like he is a little fuzzy on one side
