zygote2k November 17, 2012 Share November 17, 2012 Since there seems to be an overwhelming amount of Aussie Favia frags in the greater metro area, I was wondering if anyone had ever thought of 'tiling' the bottom of a tank with favia frags and filling in the gaps with sand? Will the individual favias war against each other or will they just grow close to each other and/or overlap each other? I'm contemplating doing this in a small 2' cube tank... steveoutlaw November 17, 2012 Share November 17, 2012 Good question. I know that I have to keep my favias away from my other types of corals to keep them from getting stung, but I have they are right next to each other and don't seem to pay each other any mind. I say go for it and take lots of pictures.
flowerseller November 17, 2012 Share November 17, 2012 they will grow to each other and one will win and grow over the other.
ToddR November 17, 2012 Share November 17, 2012 I have some favia that have extremely long sweepers for the size of the colony. It would be worth a try to see if favia are compatible with each other. A tank bottom plastered with them would look great.
tpallas November 17, 2012 Share November 17, 2012 I'm doing that with some rainbow monti on my back wall. You'd just need good flow coverage to keep the detritus off.
Gadgets November 29, 2012 Share November 29, 2012 Very seldom will you find two different types of favia that won't try to kill each other. They are too aggressive.
