Jan November 6, 2012 November 6, 2012 Very cool. Are you going to trim it's teeth too? Looks easy enough if it stays calm. That way it can eat on it's own. Marine Scene sells frozen clams in the shell that it may like. I wouldn't buy live because you wont know if they have parasites or not.
jefftse November 6, 2012 Author November 6, 2012 He did then we waited till he deflated. yes, we kept the food in line and he only spitted one piece out after. No vitamins. Which one should I do?
jefftse November 6, 2012 Author November 6, 2012 We are not going to trim it's teeth.. that's beyond us and plus we didn't think his teeth was overgrowth yet. Hopefully, he would break the krill addiction and eat other food after. I also have blue leg hermits in the tank for him to eat and grind its teeth but he never touched them.
Coral Hind November 6, 2012 November 6, 2012 Use something like Selcon, Vita-Chem, or GVH food soak. Anything to help add something back that might have been missing in the krill.
swffan November 6, 2012 November 6, 2012 (edited) We performed the first force feed last night.. It was something else! At first, he was spitting out water. We had to pet him until he calmed down a bit.. then we forced food (chopped mussel) down in his mouth. We got about 4-5 small pieces in, then let him out. I didn't think he liked it at all. We will have to do this over again tonight... Fun! Can I come over and watch the next feeding?I'll video without the audio for you! Edited November 6, 2012 by swffan
countryboy November 7, 2012 November 7, 2012 It seems regular shrimp is not the issue but that a diet of mainly krill is what causes it. If you can leave the shell on the shrimp it helps with the teeth wear. I tried whole shrimp, nothing doin! If I chop them up he eats them right out of my hand
epleeds November 7, 2012 November 7, 2012 I had a few of them back in the day. I would use silversides. He would Eat them from my hand. I also used squid and scallops from the grocery store
Jan November 7, 2012 November 7, 2012 Be careful buying scallops from the grocery store to feed your fish. Buy only "dry" scallops. They are chemical free. All others contain STPP (sodium triphosphates). I had a few of them back in the day. I would use silversides. He would Eat them from my hand. I also used squid and scallops from the grocery store
