Rosco's Reefs July 29, 2012 July 29, 2012 There was a discussion in the recent past about someone that killed a bunch of their Aiptasia with Aiptasia X and it has adverse effect on their tank. Anybody got any thoughts on how much is too much? I probably used 1/2 of one of the included syringe today and stopped. Advice welcome. Thanks
hypertech July 29, 2012 July 29, 2012 I have used a syringe plus in a 58 with no problem. Its locally concentrated but it would tai a lot to be significant at the tank level.
Origami July 29, 2012 July 29, 2012 Aiptasia X is basically kalk paste combined with a nutrient medium (agar, I believe). "Too much" would be whatever dosage would elevate the pH in your tank by more than 0.2 units or so. (In other words, it depends on your tank size.)
Sharkey18 July 30, 2012 July 30, 2012 While I was concentrating on killing the aptasia, my parrot picked up the open bottle of Aptasia X and dumped about half of it right into the tank. Most everything has been fine, but I wouldn't recommend it.
angel not fish July 30, 2012 July 30, 2012 After so much aiptasia X, I gave up and got 6 peppermint and in a week, they ate it all.
Sharkey18 July 30, 2012 July 30, 2012 My peppermint shrimp were a bunch of lazy bums. So I got a new eel. Bottom line, a syringe or two should not be too much.

Sharkey18 July 30, 2012 July 30, 2012 Oh don't get me started. Reefing is only slightly more expensive than a parrot....
Origami July 30, 2012 July 30, 2012 Oh don't get me started. Reefing is only slightly more expensive than a parrot.... Ha ha! OK.... Polly want some skimmate?
LCDRDATA July 30, 2012 July 30, 2012 Oh don't get me started. Reefing is only slightly more expensive than a parrot.... How about reefing and FOUR parrots (Blue & Gold Macaw, Yellow-Collared Macaw, Solomon Islands Eclectus Parrot, Blue Quaker Parrot)?
SunWyrm July 30, 2012 July 30, 2012 (edited) I nuked my 75g aiptasia with aiptasia x, went a little overboard, and caused a reaction that killed my big rbtas. My maxi mini pulled through, as did the rest of my corals, however I only use vinegar now, and only kill about 3-6 a day/week. Edited to add: I probably used at least a couple syringes full. :( Not my proudest moment. Edited July 30, 2012 by YiatzOfEden
