miggs76 July 4, 2012 July 4, 2012 (edited) I bought 4 of these battery powered airpumps a few weeks ago just in case. I have 3 tanks (a 60g, a 14g, and a 5g). I put 2 in the 60g, and one each in the 14g and 5g. I lost zero fish and my power was out for 4 days. They are really cheap and on 2 D batteries each one last over 50 hours! I am buying a generator next week should this happen again but I highly recommend these little guys. http://www.drsfoster...cfm?pcatid=3693 Edited July 4, 2012 by miggs76
treesprite July 4, 2012 July 4, 2012 Even better are the ones that plug into the wall and come on automatically when the electric goes out. I tested the two I have with an 10" strip and a 7" strip. The more powerful one will easily run an 11" strip just as strongly as a little airstone. The smaller will work just as well with the 7" strip as a small airstone. With the two strips hooked together, the stronger pump will still send bubbles through the entire length of 17" well enough to be useful that way, but the bubbles are slower. The smaller pump acts in that way if I hook it to the 10" strip instead of the 7" strip. I wish I had had the strips before the electric was out so I would not have worried as much.
Jan July 4, 2012 July 4, 2012 These have helped me in the past. I have two. Loud but they do the job. I bought 4 of these battery powered airpumps a few weeks ago just in case. Dell2go July 4, 2012 July 4, 2012 Anybody got a link on the electric switching model? Thx http://www.drsfostersmith.com/product/prod_display.cfm?c=3578+3669+8044+8120&pcatid=8120
Rosco's Reefs July 4, 2012 July 4, 2012 Thanks for the info. Please verify if I am reading it correctly. These pumps run ALL the time AND stay on when the power is out? Yes? Or do they just come on when the power is out, that is what I would prefer. Thx in advance.
Coral Hind July 4, 2012 July 4, 2012 I'm not sure of the Azoo model that dell2go posted but I have the PennPlax B11 and it only comes on when the power goes out. http://www.aquariumguys.com/silentairpump.html http://www.advancedaquarist.com/2002/8/aafeature
