hlem June 26, 2012 June 26, 2012 my evaporation rate seems to have increased an extra gallon or so a day... is it normal to have increased evaporation this time of year?
Jan June 26, 2012 June 26, 2012 Yes. especially with the AC on. That's been my experience. my evaporation rate seems to have increased an extra gallon or so a day... is it normal to have increased evaporation this time of year?
Chad June 26, 2012 June 26, 2012 And aside from being pretty warm, it's also been much drier than normal... My evaporation is up too.
Coral Hind June 26, 2012 June 26, 2012 As Jan mentioned it is normal if you are running your A/C unit. Some tanks also run warmer in the summer which leads to slightly more evaporation. If you have a fan over the tank to keep it cool then that also leads to more evaporation.
icecool2 June 26, 2012 June 26, 2012 +1. What everyone else said. You can cut down on evap with a cover if your tank is open.
ToddR June 26, 2012 June 26, 2012 Keep in mind that as an A/C cools down your house,it also dehumidifies. That's the water coming from the back of a window unit.
hlem June 26, 2012 Author June 26, 2012 thanks all. the AC is definitely on more and higher the last week or so.
flooddc June 26, 2012 June 26, 2012 Cover you sump will greatly reduces evaporation too. But it will slightly increases you tank temp.
