Found a few hundred of these guys in my refugium swimming around last night....enjoy! Ps they are the size of the tip of a ballpoint pen.

Do they stick on the side and then let go, swim around and then stick again, with tentacles outstretched? I believe they are hydroids.

They swim around at the surface and then dive down and rise back up. They make the distinct pulsing motion that jellyfish make. Is it bad if they are hydroids?

I wouldn't worry about them. They're mostly a problem for people who raise fish and get hydroids in their fry tanks.

Hydroid jellyfish are not a problem, they come and go periodically and don't stay in the water column for very long. I'm not convinced that's what yours are, though.
