Hello Everyone,

My name is Greg Barord and I am new to the site and wanted to introduce myself a bit. I graduated from Texas A&M University at Galveston with a B.S. in Marine Biology and I am currently a PhD student at the City University of New York Graduate Center and Brooklyn College. I worked at the National Resource Center for Cephalopods for 5 years and then spent a couple years on fishing boats in the Bering Sea, Alaska (yeah, I'm still not sure how I ended up there but it was amazing).

Right now I am working with the chambered nautilus. I am primarily focusing on the learning and memory capabilities of nautilus as well as their conservation status in the wild. I also work with octopus, cuttlefish, and squid doing various collaborations with other researchers. Cephalopods are my first love but after working at the Aquarium at Moody Gardens in Galveston, TX several years ago, I began working more closely with reef fishes and some coral species, as well as various other invertebrates. I have cultured many different kinds of live food for various species of fish and invertebrates.

I'll keep this short. I look forward to learning from everyone on the site and I hope I can offer some good suggestions or advice as well.

Greg

Welcome to WAMAS you will love it here, everyone is so helpful and full of knowledge....

Greg was a speaker at TONMOCON which we hosted in October and presented some information on the Chambered Nautilus. It was interesting hearing the discussion on what is happening with them with some of our local experts from the zoo!
