bankyf November 5, 2011 Share November 5, 2011 I have that same laser if anyone local wants to give it a try. I have my doubts about the success and the risk of damaging your eyes by focusing on something so close is not worth it. It will burn things like paper and plastic from a few feet away, but a tank full of water is quite a heatsink.
davelin315 November 5, 2011 Share November 5, 2011 If you were closer I'd try it. I have some recent school donations that have some aiptasia and a few that have made a comeback in my tub of spare rock.

Guest thefishman65 November 14, 2011 Share November 14, 2011 I think I have found everything needed for about $155. Anyone else interested?
hypertech November 14, 2011 Share November 14, 2011 Interested, yes. Funded, no. If someone has one and wants to try it, I've got a few aiptasia that could be lasered and have no problem trying it out on my tank.
Origami November 14, 2011 Share November 14, 2011 Someone ought to try this with a laser diode from a 16x DVD burner and see if it works. There are plenty of vids on Youtube that show you how. Please be aware, though, that lasers can cause permanent eye damage. Be sure that you understand proper handling procedures and wear appropriate protection.
