Rafal October 11, 2011 October 11, 2011 Hi. I have 5g eco pico tank and I'm looking for small snails which one can work like Turbo (turbo is too big for that tank). Right now I have 2 blue leg hermit crab, 4 small nassarius, pom pom and yellow clown goby (Gobiodon okinawae). Thanks guys for help. Rafal
dakotasreef October 11, 2011 October 11, 2011 I personally like the margarita snails. They don't get nearly as large as turbos.
Ryan S October 11, 2011 October 11, 2011 A couple of Astrea Snails would work well. http://www.liveaquaria.com/product/prod_display.cfm?c=497+526+563&pcatid=563
SunWyrm October 11, 2011 October 11, 2011 tiger trochus are pretty and a little more careful around loose frags more because of their shape. They're great for algae and the best snail for my tanks, they don't mind the higher temperature either. A cerith or 2 would be nice as well if you don't have enough algae growth for a small trochus. I've heard that margaritas come from colder water and don't do as well in our tanks - what's your opinion on them, dakotasreef and how long have yours lasted? Mine died shortly but they were the first inhabitants in my very first tank so there's that. :(
John October 11, 2011 October 11, 2011 I would recommend Nerite Snails...Marine Scene stocks them...they are small and the Pacfic ones have very colorful shells...
FearTheTerps October 11, 2011 October 11, 2011 +1 on the cerith snails, they are the only clean up crew i have in my 55, but i have a few hundred of them. they keep everything pretty clean except for the bubble algae Im sorta battling now.
