Incredible Corals October 11, 2011 October 11, 2011 I've always wanted one but have been told they are very aggressive. If you have one, what other fish do you have in the tank if any?
collegeman October 11, 2011 October 11, 2011 I did not have a magenta dottyback but the bicolor one i had was aggressive. It harassed smaller and larger fish.
Jan October 11, 2011 October 11, 2011 I had one and it was fine with blue green chromis, 6 line wrasse, engineer goby, watchman gobies, anthias, yellow eye kole tang, dragonets, several cleaner shrimp and all snails and crabs. It was one of the last fish I put in my tank and lived peacefully for about a year with everyone else. The only one it had a problem with was the royal gramma. It made the royal gramma hide all the time.
zygote2k October 11, 2011 October 11, 2011 had one and could not wait to get it out! they are super aggressive small fish. little killer torpedoes of the reef.
CaptainRon October 11, 2011 October 11, 2011 One of my favorite fishes is the Pseudochromis fridmani (Orchid Dottyback). I had one or two of them years and years ago and they were never too agressive to me. Everyone I've ever talked to has said they are extremely aggressive though, similar to the Magenta I'd guess. I know the fridmani I had would mostly cruise the rocks hunting down food. Anyway, just another fish to look into. They might be just as bad though. Good luck!

It's super timid, hiding in the rocks most of the day. Doesn't bother the other tank mates at all.

My fridmani is a pretty good citizen and hasn't bothered a sixline added after him. He's also left the pipefish and other fairy wrasses alone. Most of the fridmani I've had in the past have been fine. Now, p. dutoiti/albarensis is mean. Probably the smartest fish I've ever had but the last fish in the tank.
