Any one know a good way to cover two overflows. I have had quite a few escapees into them lately so I think I need to cover them. Acrylic, Glass? Any thoughts on where I could get something cut

There is a guy on eBay who sells acrylic ones. They aren't fancy but they work great and you don't have to fiddle around with tracking down and cutting black acrylic.

I also have glass covers on my tank, but over the overflow and then lays on the glass I just use double layer of alumn foil.

You could also make some your self out of some acrylic from Home Depot or Lowes and paint them black to prevent algae from gowing in there.

^correct. And you could use it to paint some clear acrylic for overflow covers ;)

I asked at home depot and they said they would not cut acrylic I would just have to buy a whole piece and do it myself. Don't have the tools for it though

Go to Lowe's they will cut it for you, so long as you buy it from them

+1.. Just had some cut.

Chad, thats what I was planning. I may go to Del-Ray glass though, they cost more, but they do better work, and much quicker..

Beautiful thanks. See and this is why my wife gets mad at me when I shop at Lowes instead of her Home Depot. Lowes goes out of their way for you Home Depot never does

Yea I sent him a email. Said all plumbing had to be a bit below top of overflow mine is just a bit above so he didn't recommend it. Was thinking of buying them and have them cut but guess can't if you have to buy them from Lowes to get them cut there. They are just acrylic right. Do you think they could be cut since you actually have a pair?

It's just a piece of acrylic with a strip glued to the bottom to hold it in place.

If your plumbing sticks up out of the overflow your are going to have trouble with any cover. Why not shorten the plumbing?

In the past I just used a chunk of that pink closed cell insulation cut to size. You can even cut in a little lip so it sits down a hair and kind of locks in place. Easy enough to make and cheap if you already have some leftover insulation.

I live in Manassas, have some scrap acrylic, and can make the cover for you or help you make it yourself. Your choice. I'll PM my cell number.
