Get a huge skimmer and start carbon dosing in conjunction with regular water changes?

 

I currently have a reef octopus nwb 150 and currently skim wet. Do I need to go bigger with such a small bio load?

 

I usually do 20G once a week. I've tried splitting in to smaller but more frequent. 5G every other day. 40G every 3 days. Nothing seems to be working. 

 

The carbon dosing was working for a bit. Then I started smelling some funk and the sump developed this yellow/clear smiley goo that ended up in the skimmer / inside the filter sock / pretty much everywhere just never in the DT. It took about two weeks to get rid of it. I followed the dosing charts to a tee but its happened twice now.

 

Might start it back up once I'm done with the sand.
