El Camaron June 17, 2011 June 17, 2011 it is a sad day that i just got an email stating this store is closing, they are having some great sales in case people need equipment or livestock, i dont know what they have left but just wanted to give the WAMAS community a heads up. Support your LFS.
Mando77 June 17, 2011 June 17, 2011 Yeah that is sad. The owner is very nice and they have been is bussiness for 20 years. I was there last weekend and they still had some nice fish. If you are looking for some fish you won't be able to beat their deals at 50% off.
treesprite June 18, 2011 June 18, 2011 This really sucks. I will have to find time to go have a chat with Jim before he's gone.
treesprite June 19, 2011 June 19, 2011 Went over there tonight - not much left. He's selling off a lot of the store equipment, so if anyone needs something, might want to call and ask him.
johnnybv June 19, 2011 June 19, 2011 (edited) Well, that just sucks! This is a tough business, and many of us support our families and a few others with our businesses. I hate to hear of any LFS going out, it sends chills up my spine, we struggle every week to pay the bills and take care of our staff, I couldnt even imagine having to close our doors! Support your LFS and more importantly your WAMAS sponsors. Just a little rant about what a customer said to me the other day...."hey I bought that light that you we reccomending, its awesome, thanks for the reccomendation. I got it online, from the manufacturer.." He ended up paying more than he would have if he had gotten it from us, and that unit has been discontinued because a newer / better model is due out in two weeks! I'll take the last laugh on that one... Good luck TFW staff, I wish you the best. John Edited June 19, 2011 by johnnybv
treesprite June 20, 2011 June 20, 2011 Jim wasn't thee when I went, but a clerk said it was a combination of the rent skyrocketing and retirement. Remind me if I ever have a store to have it on my own property not a rented one.
johnnybv June 20, 2011 June 20, 2011 (edited) When your on propery that is for sale for 1.5 - 2 mil sometimes you dont have the option other than to lease. john Edited June 20, 2011 by johnnybv
F&Fmgr June 20, 2011 June 20, 2011 my landlord is the company that just made a fortune breaking up chevy chase into capital one.... do they care whether i can afford rent increases? nope! BTW we really do appreciate the people that keep us up, and make it worth while
treesprite June 21, 2011 June 21, 2011 TFW is the first LFS I ever went to for saltwater aquarium supplies, roughly 15 years ago.
El Camaron June 21, 2011 Author June 21, 2011 same here Treesprite, they broke my slatwater fish cherry LOL, they will be missed for sure and could not stress the SUPPORT YOUR LFS any more.
Big Country June 21, 2011 June 21, 2011 Never bought much saltwater stuff from them but Jim helped me set up a beautiful rainbowfish tank that I loved before I got the saltwater reef bug.
