Someone please talk me through using flatworm exit

Recommended Posts

I have the faltworm exit and I've tried everything I can think up to get rid of the flatworms in my seahorse tank but because I have to feed the ponies so often they're not going away sooooo I have no choice but to use flatworm exit. Tell me your experiences with this stuff. I have sexy shrimp, 2 seahorses, peppermint shrimp, 1 spot tail pipefish and a 6 line in this system. I'll be able to get the pnies out while I treat but not anything else. Will I need to do more than 50% water change after I use it. I know that when these critters start to die off they release a toxin and that's where the problems might begin.

LOL, thank you Dave. I just finished reading this. How are you? Haven't seen you in forever.

Follow instruction as it is described on the box. After an hour or two (when the worms suppose to be all dead), and then run carbon, I left the carbon it there as long as you want. J still have mine in there, and it has been like 3 months. I did not do any water change, and all fish and inverts seems uneffected. Check again in a few weeks, apply more if they're still there. I had to dose twice, 2-3 weeks apart. First dose didn't see any for 2-3 weeks, applied second dose, no more fw since.

I am doing good. I have missed the latest meetings because of my work.

My tank is full so I havent added anything in months.

I have some cool SPS though if you want some frags.

Removing the ponies before the treatment? I never had a problem with fish, but you might want to check/post seahorse.org about any side effects. Ponies are easy to remove...

Is it easy to remove rocks and treat them in a separate container, like a 5g bucket? You'll still have to treat the tank, but that will lower the amount of toxins released in your tank.

Thanks everyone!

Will remove the ponies

Will syphon as many as I can and make lots of water

Will Have carbon and ammonia pads on hand

I just can't take the rock work out of the tank right now. They'll come out when I redo the aquascape with the live frame. I guess I just need to wait until then and dip as we drill and stack.

I was amazed at how many come up out of my rockwork, when I thought I had the majority siphoned out. I was getting nervous about the toxins, so I got a large fish net and stuck it about 6-8 inches in front of one of my Vortechs. As they floated up, the vortech would push them into the net, and then I just rinsed the net every few minutes or so when I would see a fair amount collected.

I had no problems.

Cheers

A filter sock and a small pump like a MJ1200 with hose on the discharge will work well too.
