dbartco March 18, 2011 March 18, 2011 We are looking for volunteers to help move a 90 gallon corner tank from Flowers and Plants in McLean to Chantilly HS. We will be meeting at Chip's shop at 12 pm to tear down the tank, them move it to the next location. What we need: someone with a truck towels new saltwater 1.025 buckets with lids, pumps with hoses for return strong backs! anything else you can think of. This is the tank that Dave S posted previously that was donated here: Please post up if you can make it, even if it is only to one of the locations to provide some muscle. Thank you. Brian Ward March 18, 2011 March 18, 2011 This weekend - like day after tomorrow. Several of us that went up to MD and broke it down and moved things the first time are unavailable this weekend but we need to get this moved out of Chip's shop and into a school.
Guest thefishman65 March 18, 2011 March 18, 2011 Not sure I can make it, but I will try. But I do have a small problem. I have no idea where Chip's shop is.
DaveS March 18, 2011 March 18, 2011 There should be plenty of salt and MY buckets with lids. It's a FOWLR so making water at the HS shouldn't be a problem. I even sent along a gallon of Amquel.
LanglandJoshua March 18, 2011 March 18, 2011 My father and I will have a truck in the Vienna area, if there is anything that needs to be picked up. We are picking up some gear from No Experiences, so we will be doing a lap or two between Herndon, Vienna, and Chantilly. We should be done transporting the gear from No Experiences house to mine by about 12:30PM. Please let me know how we can help.
dbartco March 18, 2011 Author March 18, 2011 Susan (Mrs. Gerbasi to you! )said she may have someone with a truck, but we could definitely use another. I hope you can make it. I don't ahve a large vehicle.

I even sent along a gallon of Amquel. DaveS, if that is your private Amquel, I'll set it aside for you. If it came with all the stuff, I'll send it along with the tank. LMK

LanglandJoshua March 18, 2011 March 18, 2011 are we picking the tank up from the store itself? It is possible that we could use my fathers Ford Bronco to carry the tank.
dbartco March 19, 2011 Author March 19, 2011 it is set up at chips store. we have to break it down (at 12) then set it up in chantilly (guessing 1:30-2ish)
Hayden March 19, 2011 March 19, 2011 Sorry about the late notice but I had some complications this morning that ended early. I should be there at 12.
dbartco March 20, 2011 Author March 20, 2011 A very big thank you for everyone's help today in setting this tank up in it's permanent location. Thanks Chip for housing and taking care of the tank for the last month. Rob, Eric, Dan, and Dave all helped out and worked their behinds off! And both Susan and Tony (to whom the tank went to) both got their hands (and faces, arms, pants, and everything else) wet. It is good to know that the tank is going to someone who is willing roll up their sleeves. Dan greasing it up for the cause! I took pics while real folks worked. Hard work upside down. I claimed my back hurt... sunrayce 95? I'm old! notice Rob's glasses in his pocket Where are they now!?!?!?!?! Pulling them out of the tank! Motley Crew, but finally completed!
LanglandJoshua March 20, 2011 March 20, 2011 It looked great when I dropped by, cant wait for some pics when it clears up!! CURSE THAT SILT!!
seafan March 20, 2011 March 20, 2011 A BIG THANKS TO: Doug, Dan (and his son Dean), Eric, Rob, Dave, and can't forget Josh (who re-connected me to WAMAS) for all the hard work and the magnificent fully outfitted and well stocked tank. My students will be thrilled with the new addition to my classroom (and my fellow teachers will be VERY envious LOL). I can't wait until Monday to see if the water settled. I'll take some more photos and post them. Please send me the name of the family that donated the equipment so I can get a brass plate made and mounted. I'll take some more photos with my students so you can forward them to the donors. Thank you WAMAS again for this extraordinary gift, for years it will provide hundreds of students with a window into our beloved world of coral reefs. Sincerely, Susan Gerbasi Oceanography Teacher Chantilly High School Chantilly, VA
