Led driver help

I plan on building three 23" led fixtures for my 180. I will either use 48 or 36 total leds on each fixture half blue half white. Is there a meanwell driver that will handle all three fixtures worth of blues 72 or 54 and a seperate one for the whites. I just want to avoid using a ton of seperate drivers but I will if I have to. Any advice will be helpful thanks!!

Hey, what type of LED's are you using. I am assuming cree, but there are multiple types even using cree. I have a fixture with 12 XP-G R5 whites (30% more power than XR-E whites) and 12 XR-E royal blues. NOW, they have out blues and royal blues known as XP-E. Have not seen these in person. .

Also, it matters if you are going to go dimmable (I did not).... I do not think it is necessary other than to control color temp in the beginning, or acclimate corals. I guess it is nice... o well lol.

You are more than welcome to come check out a 50/50 color temp. To be honest, I should have used more blue

As far as drivers handeling that many led's, I do not know of any. I am sure there may be some out there, but that is outside my knowledge base.

Good luck!

I dont mind tne work at all. My new 180 has nothing in it other than 300lbs of LR. Dimming would be nice but not a must. Im using leds from china I dont know the brand I used them on my wifes nano and the result was nice plus they are 1.20 each.So with that said im just trying to figure out the best way to power them.

Check the Meanwell HLG series driver. Do you have a spec sheet on the LEDs you are using? You maybe paying a lot for electricity rather than a higher upfront cost.

Can you give us some more info on your LED's? Maybe a link to where you got them. Without knowing the wattage it is hard to recommend anything.

140 lumens at 2.4 watts (3.3 * .75) is 56 lumens per watt. The CREE XR-E run about 92 and the XP-G 132 lumens per watt. So the CREE will use almost half the electricity.

FYI: I plan to do a group buy next month.

Cree is way out of my price range thats why im using the cheaper leds. Especially since im using so many.

For the same output you will need almost twice as many LEDs. The last group buy had XR-E CW for $4 and Royal Blues for $3. XP-G CW where 4.75 and the XP-E royal where $4.00. A lot of the Reef places still have very high prices.

Deal EX has great drivers that can drive all your leds with 2 drivers.

Cheap and the ones i have used work great.

I GET MY OPTICS From the same place you got your LEDS they are half what

you pay anywhere else. 2 weeks from china great place to deal with.

Next group buy will be looking for 60 rb.....count me in.

Kaidomain is a chinese site that you never here of but they have the best prices i have found and shipp

around 2 weeks to us and package everything great.

xpe-r2 bin......10 shipped for 33.00

xml-t6 bin.......10 shipped for 83.00

xpg-r5 bin.......10 shipped for 49.00

The XPE R2 COOLWHITES are a great led and 30 shipped for 100.00 is the best deal around.

Nobody on reefcentral seems to even know about them,so they never sell out of anything

unlike DE.

I can't seem to find those prices, but ETG beat them on the last group buy I did (no XM-Ls ordered).

There search engine is bad just punch in cree then scroll down the lefthand side half way down

you will see led emmiter/star hit it.....all there led come up.

You will never find these prices with only 10 being bought ,DE is close and ETG IS THE BEST for group buys no question.

They have T5 XML for 10x 6.94 another great prices.

I LOVE THAT THEY TAKE paypal also.

Does etg take paypal and do you know if they are ever going to get a site up to order from.

The bad search engine may be why nobody has heard of them on reefcentral.

I guess I am blind - I can't find a ten pack of XP-Gs. Another disadvantage is that they don't have royal blues.

ETG does not take paypal. I doubt they will change their site. They just got bought but Arrow IIRC.

HIT the buy three items and start savings and the buy 10plus for 4.91 each will show.

The chinese sites have flashlights in mine so getting any royal blues will for the most part never happen.

DO you know of any sites that carry the semiled blue[445mv] or any place that has this purple led type.
