zygote2k November 18, 2010 November 18, 2010 I spoke with Rich about getting a particular type of Sea Fan from Florida. He said he'd find a special one for me on the next dive. I got the order tonight from air cargo and was pleasantly surprised to see a deep red/ purple sea fan about 30" wide. This is the second experience this year with TBS. Both times Rich gave excellent customer service. If you like aquacultured rock, sponges, gorgonians this is the place to get it.
Chad November 18, 2010 November 18, 2010 Photosynthetic or non-photosynthetic? Do you have a species on it? In either case, that is a really nice sized specimen. Was it for one of your clients?
Coral Hind November 18, 2010 November 18, 2010 Wow, 30" is impressive. Any pics? Was it shipped fully submerged?
zygote2k November 18, 2010 Author November 18, 2010 this from Rich this morning. Richard Londeree to me Kewl
zygote2k November 18, 2010 Author November 18, 2010 here are the pics of the fan and surrounding tank.
L8 2 RISE November 18, 2010 November 18, 2010 WOW! That box must have been huge! Where is this tank? That's a photosynthetic gorgonian right?
Chad November 19, 2010 November 19, 2010 (edited) I cannot quite tell what kind of gorg it is... a few have that general look (both photo and non-photo). Can we get a closeup of the polyps/body? What color are the polyps? Usually brown polyps are an indicator of a photo gorg and other colors (white, yellow, purple, etc.) are an indicator of non-photosynthetic gorgs. Nice colony! How is the front to back flow in that tank? keep in mind (as I am sure that you know) sea fans that shape are very high flow organisms. Edited November 19, 2010 by Chad
Coral Hind November 19, 2010 November 19, 2010 Very nice sea fan and the tank looks great! How big is the tank?
zygote2k November 19, 2010 Author November 19, 2010 Tank is a 220 or 265. It has a fair amount of flow and will soon have a Vortech on it. The polyps are white, Rich at TBS has no idea what species it is. either way it will be fed on a regular basis with spray dried phyto and rotifers.
