gmubeach July 1, 2010 July 1, 2010 ****Updates**** my clown citron goby isn't doing well if anyones gots some feeding advice I'd be appreciative I tried brine shrimp, micro pellets, and green flakes... I can't figure out whats wrong as hes eating ... the rest of the fish are very healthy! Anyway I think it might be a parasite can someone recomend anything I can try?
gmubeach July 1, 2010 Author July 1, 2010 The previous owner fed him rods food but the shrimp just float all over the tank he will only eat small pieces I will try again.
treesprite July 1, 2010 July 1, 2010 Clown gobies can be really hit-or-miss, and sometimes they seem healthy then suddenly die. Try something with tiny particles, like Rods Food or homemade (blendered) food. I used Kent microvert in a couple such situations, with clown gobies and with firefish. It worked out very well, and eventually the fish ate regular food. You have to use a syringe and squirt tiny amount near the fish. The corals will like it too. Just be careful not to add too much to the tank. The fish will see the particles that we can't see, and you'll see the fish nipping in the water if they are eating them.
trockafella July 1, 2010 July 1, 2010 hOW BOUT SOME GOOD SOAKED CYCLOPEEZE.. SOAK IT IN SOME SELCON OR GARLIC..
Coral Hind July 1, 2010 July 1, 2010 I'm not sure why Trockafella is yelling at you but I do agree that soaked cyclopeeze is a good option. Some soaked live brine may help too.
gmubeach July 1, 2010 Author July 1, 2010 I'm trying to get him to eat ... as far as I know hes eating I've scene him eat... hejust won't put on weight I'm going to see what I can do... it was from someone elses tank and he was healthy he said he fed him rods food but he won't touch it in my tank anyway I'm feeding him as best as I can!
Coral Hind July 1, 2010 July 1, 2010 Are there any white stringy things hanging from him when he defecates? It could be internal parasites in the digestive tract. When a fish becomes emaciated it can take several months of heavy feeding to get them to gain the weight back.
gmubeach July 2, 2010 Author July 2, 2010 I havn't seen it poop... It is being fed alot! He mouthed the mysis and took tiny pieces off it and then ate some smaller stuff off the brine shrimp ... I'm going to start feeding twice a day... smaller portions!
Coral Hind July 2, 2010 July 2, 2010 Yes, two or more smaller meals is much better. I would get some small foods like the frozen cyclopeeze.
