What's a good one for under $50?

 

What's the difference between a $200 refractometer and a $30 one?

 

Directions on some say "prism and sample must be at the same temperature" for accurate result. How do you ensure they are the same temp?

I got mine on eBay from a seller in Hong Kong. I've had it for over a year and paid under $20.00 including shipping. Still works great.

I 2nd ebay. I got one off of there a couple years ago, also under $20, shipped from overseas, and it still works great.

Not sure. But I've not researched the question. You'd think there'd be some difference given the price delta, wouldn't you?

 

Just take care to calibrate it using a seawater standard. According to RHF (in this post: http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/showpost.php?p=11919805&postcount=9), it's important to do so.

Buy one with ATC (automatic temperature compensation).

You too charlie! Wish you lived closer you could come see the tank all set up... I love the one I got. Also love the portable tds meter I got with my osomis machine both are very cool... the swing arm hydrometers are so touchy and mis read half the time.
