treesprite June 12, 2010 Share June 12, 2010 So I have discovered that Home Depot discontinued Aqamend, and I didn't see it at Lowes. I am supposed to be transferring my tank contents today and have nothing to use for my aquascaping. I found that some people use JB Water Weld, which is approved for drinking water containers, but would like to see some more opinions on it from people here, or would like some suggestions for other brands (aside from what is found at aquarium shops). Coral Hind June 12, 2010 Share June 12, 2010 Your LFS should have underwater epoxy. It might cost more but it is proven to be safe.
Noobalicious June 12, 2010 Share June 12, 2010 I had been using the JBJ Water Weld after the Aquamend was discontinued...but won't any more. The batch I bought last week must have had a different mix. The putty ended up becoming unworkable and breaking apart in small chunks. I ended up stopping at Aquarium one and getting a tube of the 2 Litlle Fishes brand. The tube is twice the size of the aquamend or Water Weld and cost about $19, so it wasn't bad considering you get twice the product.
magnetic1 June 12, 2010 Share June 12, 2010 You can still get it online at a lot of places... like this: http://www.jdindustrialsupply.com/aq7epst.html
treesprite June 13, 2010 Author Share June 13, 2010 I need it like tomorrow. I bought some of the water weld stuff yesterday, hoping people would have a better opinion of it - I guess I'll take it back to the store.
Ryan S June 15, 2010 Share June 15, 2010 http://www.wamas.org/forums/topic/31237-loctite-epoxy-putty-review/ This stuff works fine. Wal-mart sells it cheap.
Big Country June 16, 2010 Share June 16, 2010 I just got 5 tubes of aquamend at home depot up here a couple days ago. Try another home depot
treesprite June 17, 2010 Author Share June 17, 2010 There are 2 Home Depots that I go to, and both have none, and neither does the Lowes. Maybe someone can check at their local Home Depot for me.
