Hello all,

I'm trying to put my new 90 together this weekend, but I need to find a 1 1/4 gasket for my bulkhead. Lowes and house of tropical didn't have them. Anyone know where I can get one on Sunday?

Thanks

Matt

i just re-read the post and should clarify that I have the entire bulkhead1" inner diameter and 1 1/4" outer diameter. The gasket outer diameter is 2". Not sure if that is what you are looking for or not.

Didn't the existing BH's come with gaskets?

If they did, soak in vinear while you're cleaning the mounting surface real good.

Unless those gaskets are brittle or pitted for some reason, they'll seal real well if installed correctly and tightened properly.

The gasket goes between the BH flange and the glass side, not the nut side, right! Really hand tight and then thighter as much as another 1/4 turn or untill it's firm.

Wet all surfaces with water during install.

Hey Guys,

Thanks for the input. I'm going to try soaking the gasket tonight.

Mountaineer - good to see another WVU fan in the group. Are you an alumni as well?

I have a brand new 1" bulkhead you have the gasket off of. Shot me a PM if you still need it.

Roozens may be closer to you and they have bulkheads. They are open on Sundays too.

Hey Guys,

Well, the bulk head has been reattached. There a small DRIP that's coming from the setup at a rate of 40 drops per minute. The actual bulk head appears dry, so it's probably in the PVC. Should I worry about this or let the salt creep take care of things? I want to be cautious tightening the PVC for hear of loosening the bulk head.

Thanks,

Matt

I am not sure exactly what the situation is so I have some questions.

Did you place the gasket on the inside of the tank as it is supposed to be?

It sounds like it is a male threaded fitting you are screwing into the bulkhead. Did you put teflon tape of the threads?

Make sure the gasket is centered on the bulkhead.

I would get the fitting as tight as possible and the retighten the bulkhead.
