I'm planning on purchasing a Chiller in about two months for a 30 gallon tank. I would like to know if anyone has a certain preference towards a brand. I have been doing some research and it seems that Oceanic looks like the best? I have heard some brands have issues. Another brand I was looking at was the Prime Chillers by Current USA. Any help would be appreciated. If anyone is looking at getting rid of an older model or has one for sale let me know.

My advice is to get a larger chiller then you need I burned one out running it to max capacity

I tried to balance price and performance, and am really pleased with the JBJ Arctica I have on my 90g. It's quiet and has no problems maintaining the temp.

I recently purchased a TECO, and couldnt be happier with its performance.

Its the quietest chiller Ive owned, has an extra quiet setting (I think Ive Owned 5), and it doesnt heat up my living room with the exhaust. The company has excellent customer service and spent half an hour on the phone with me indulging my random technical requests (head loss and heat transfer coefficients and such).

+1 on the JBJ Arctica and TECO. I personally use a Tradewinds and very satisfied with it's performance so far. But, regardless of which direction you go with your selection, if your tank's cooling requirements are nearing the upper limit of what is recommended for the particular chiller model, always choose the next largest chiller to ensure an adequately cooled aquarium.

Other things you may consider is noise and heat. The smaller model JBJ Arcticas and TECOs get an A+++ in this category.

HTH and Happy hunting :)
