zygote2k January 12, 2010 Share January 12, 2010 I heard someone say that you could use white lithium grease on the electrical contacts of a DE 400 w bulb to make replacing the bulbs easier. Is this true?
davjbeas January 12, 2010 Share January 12, 2010 I got some for you if you need it. I wouldn't use on screw on bulbs as the grease might be conductive causing a spark gap. I use it for double ended bulbs to help slide it into the contacts. David
DaveS January 12, 2010 Share January 12, 2010 Yup, I used this when I had DE bulbs. Easy to find at HD or any auto store. Helps keep the ceramic sockets from cracking/breaking since they get brittle from the heat.
dandy7200 January 12, 2010 Share January 12, 2010 Try noalox. It is pretty much designed for this application.
Coral Hind January 12, 2010 Share January 12, 2010 I would never use any conductive product for this situation. By using one you are compromising the insulating value of the porcelain and it could cause a ground fault situation. You are better off using a dielectric product like Permatex Dielectric Grease that can be found in most auto parts and home improvement stores.
