bbyatv November 16, 2009 November 16, 2009 I was starting to get way too many aiptasia going in my 90. I decided to try a Copper Band Butterfly. After reading some other posts, it was sounding like the members who have had the most success with them had purchased them from BRK. I decided to follow their lead and did the same. Ozzy had three in stock and helped me figure out what size was best for my tank and would stand up best to a very pesky Blue Eyed Kole Tang. Any how I got the fish home and acclimated him in the sump for two days before letting the other fish have at him. The Kole tang kept him cornered for two days but finally let him out. The Copperband has now wiped out 90 percent of the aiptasia (maybe more), even the large ones that I thought he would not get near. The fish is also eating well. Long story shot, BRK supplied me with a healthy Copperband that has survived despite being bullied by a Kole Tang. The fish is just beautiful and doing well. Thanks Ozzy and BRK. Bruce
bbyatv November 16, 2009 Author November 16, 2009 I could Not Say, As I Do Not Know. Bruce Do they eat majanos?
johnnybv November 16, 2009 November 16, 2009 Great to hear Bruce! They are definatly a picky fish, but once adapted they are a great addition, and more importantly Keep the aiptasia under control. john
Kevin Garrison November 16, 2009 November 16, 2009 Do they eat majanos? I have read that Raccoon Butterflies will/can be trained to majanos, I also had a lunare wrasse that took to eating them. Unfortunately Lunare's aren't exactly reef safe though mine never bothered coral. I was in the middle of trying the butterfly experiment back in August when the tank crashed.

Pyramid butterflies also known aiptasia eaters, and are supposed to be reef safe. We actuall have one in our display tank with coral and so far the only thing he has liked was the armor of gods! I expect to have some of them maybae later this week. john
Boret November 16, 2009 November 16, 2009 Do they eat majanos? No way!! They are back?? I had a Copper Band and he died sucked in my Close loop intake. I really like that fish, congrats on getting a healthy and aiptasia eating specimen. All the fish I ever got from BRK have done great. As a matter of fact, the only thing I got from them that died was a clam... that I guess wasn't meant to be. If I could now get my blue slimmer to turn blue.....!!

I have news for you, my blue slimer has not turned blue yet either! I will have to ask my source how they got the blue out, I have it under 8 t-5s and you have yours under halides. john

One is a kind of dark teal, the other a dark blue. Right now both of them look a lovely shade of brown... 150W MH is NOT enough for my 50-gallon stock tank, even with the shallow water. Eager to get them back into the display. bob
