I was in Tropical Lagoon today and noticed that they got in new shipments of fish and coral today but the didn't acclimate the corals. They said they only acclimate fish.Does everyone do this?

i don't acclimate corals. I float them in the water for a while to get the temperature adjusted and then toss them in. i used to drip and seemed to lose a lot more of them - I'm guessing due to temperature fluctuation.

same here, just float and dump (well not litterally)...

this is especially true for shipments, i want to get them out of the cr@p slime water ASAP...

I only float to match water temps and then add them in as well.

Is there any reason people can't float while drip acclimating? Aren't you worried about ph fluctuation?

+1 but no jewelers tool... need to get that one.but always treat with dips and always add new tank water to double the amount of original water. Rik you always have the best ideas. :lol2:

+2 but no loupe either.

Float then 5 Mins in Revive

Rinse with tank SW

15 Mins in Lugols Dip

Rinse with tank SW

30 Min Interceptor Dip

Rinse with tank SW

Place in tank

If it is a Montipora then they get another dip in Levaminsole

I just put them right into a q-t tank, after acclimating to temp. Of course, when I get a dry shipment, I just dump them right in to q-t.

Float

Inspect with a magnifying glass,

Dip, dip, dip (coral dip and or fresh water depending on what it is)

QT for a few days.

Inspect with lights on and off.

If I don't see anything in a couple to a few days, into the main tank it goes.

When you guys say you dip multiple times, does that mean you put the coral back in the same dip or do you mix up a new batch? How long do you dip for and what products do you use?

I have never personally seen any "red bugs." Are they just red flat worms?

U can use the same dip, it won't make a difference.Unless u are using TMPCC, says u should discard after an hour..And Redbugs are not flatworms, they are a nuisance copepod that's very hard to see with the naked eye...
