Larry Grenier May 20, 2009 May 20, 2009 I plan on making a moveable divider just to hold-back cheato to the end of my frag tank. I plan on cutting-out a piece of eggcrate a little smaller than the height & width of the frag tank and gluing it to a piece of acrylic which will act as the base. I

Jon Lazar May 20, 2009 May 20, 2009 Larry, I think you will find it much easier to use eggcrate for both pieces and zip tie them together. Jon
Origami May 20, 2009 May 20, 2009 I've heard of people using adhesive high density foam weatherstripping (available at HD or Lowe's), also known as closed cell foam tape, and putting it on the side of acrylic dividers that are cut just a little short to make movable baffles. The foam is compressed against the side of the sump/tank to friction-fit the baffle. The same approach would work for egg crate, I suppose.
lanman May 21, 2009 May 21, 2009 I have had good luck with super-glue AND the accelerator for plastics. Without the accelerator, it doesn't seem to stick together as well. However, I agree - use wire ties. If you want to use acrylic - drill some wire-tie-sized holes. That's how I tied my egg-crate to PVC pipes. bob
Origami May 21, 2009 May 21, 2009 Wait, are you just trying to figure out how to glue your egg crate? (Where's the head-slapping emoticon when you need it?) I was describing an alternative approach to having a movable baffle. If all you want to do is glue - use some superglue gel. It should work just fine. Or you can use tie wraps. I'd see if I couldn't make the weatherstripping approach work for me first, though, simply because it's a cleaner look, and reconfigurable without moving rocks and because it provides support top-to-bottom for the divider rather than just at the bottom.
